Hey gang,

So after everything is installed fresh on this new PC build, I am having  a little issue with Steam VR.

When I start IL-2 it launches fine and I am in VR with my Rift - no problem there.

It is after exiting the game. Used to be I would have a Steam VR icon down in my systray, I could use it to select settings, it showed my sensors and hmd, and I could just click on the X button and it would close out fine.

For some reason on this new build, it does not put that overlay/icon in the systray. When I exit IL-2, there is absolutely nothing showing pn my desktop showing Steam VR is running, but it is as the gray Steam VR lobby is showing in my headset. I have to go to Task Manager, and kill several Steam processes in order to shut Steam VR down.

Any ideas short of an uninstall of Steam and re-install?

Thanks for any tips.

Edit: Goodness this is a bit of a mess, ran IL-2 again and exited, have to go to task manager again and there were a bunch of Steam VR processes, had trouble getting them all killed off. Think I am going to go ahead and try uninstalling and re-installing Steam and Steam VR.

Ok uninstall and re-install of both Steam VR and Steam seems to have fixed the issue.

Not sure what happened on the original install, something must have fluffed up. It was all a clean install on this new build.

Working properly now so far.

I am a little curios dburne. When i start IL2 directly i never got an SteamVR Icon, but always - on 3 different PCs -  had to close SteamVR tasks via the Taskmanager.

Only way for me on any of those 3 PCs to get the steam and steamVR Icons was to manually start steamVR prior to starting IL2. :)

So me for not having an steamVR Icon down low is absolutely normal for a IL2 directstart. ;)

Well you should get the icon in the systray and be able to close it out from there. Also Steam VR should start up when IL-2 is launched with VR enabled.

I would check in the Steam VR settings and look maybe an option is not enabled to launch automatically.

As for not having the icon in systray, you might also try an uninstall and re-install. Also be sure and go through Steam VR calibrations setup, I just chose sitting/standing for my tracking and it was quick and easy.
