It was a blast flying with everyone in the Aces Over Arras event today! Thank you to everyone who showed up. It was great to see so many formations in the air. ?

Here's my stream from the last half of the event. (My audio went out on the first half ?)

We'll see you the next time we have an event! ?

Last Sunday was the Sunday of recons. After the map rolled early on, I joined some of my squadmates to escort J30, who were running the recons that day. Action spanned both sides of the lines, including heroic efforts by the Allies to shoot our recon down — even when he was mere miles away from landing well into our own lines. Speaking of heroics, JG1_Pfeil, JG1_Etzel, JG1_Hess, and JG1_Jaus did an amazing job tying up superior numbers of Allied aircraft who were all intent on shooting our recon down. Truly, valor was shown on both sides that day.

See you next time! ?

Yesterday we had 11 JG1 pilots on the server and were able to run some larger ops. If you saw large formations over enemy lines to the north, that was probably us. We were able to run two bombing missions plus a recon and bring most of our boys back alive each time. Super proud of our pilots! They've been putting in the work, and it's showing. ?
I'll see you all again next Sunday! ?

Yesterday on Flugpark was a lot of fun! Even though I only had two wingmen today, we still found a lot of action, intercepting recons, running for our lives from huge IRFC / 76 Sqn formations, trying to start a recon with threadbare numbers, and dogfighting Se5as in thrilling fashion. When the map ended, JG1_Rotermann and I blew off some steam by doing 1v1 dogfights on Combat BOX Training. Overall, a really good time! ?

While our side was able to get the northern recons and targets done, the Entente side very effectively set up a blockade around the southern recon, giving us hardly any chance to get through. This being the case, with 10 minutes left in the mission, we waved off and headed for home. Then things got interesting when a pair of 76 Sqn Se5as made for my wingman and I. What followed was a truly classic matchup: 2 Se5as vs 2 Albatros D.Vas. The results? Well, you'll have to watch to find out! ?

Big salute to my squadmates and fellow German pilots. It's always a pleasure flying with you! Also, another big salute to our frenemies on the Allied side! Some great fights and truly fine piloting. ? I'll see you again next Sunday!

Yesterday was a short but thrilling experience on Flugpark! After working with J30 to run a recon on the 1917 map, we got intercepted by higher bandits and some intense fighting broke out. Salute to all involved! However after that, I and a lot of other pilots encountered a rare error with Flugpark not letting us refly or re-enter the server. With my flying time cut short for Sunday, I worked on gunnery accuracy by attacking AI Handley Pages for a bit and then transitioned to FPS craziness in Battlefield 1.

I'll see you next Sunday! I'll try to be on a little earlier as I'll be leaving earlier that day... the Minnesota Vikings have their first game for the season that afternoon and missing that isn't an option for me. ?

Was only able to stop by for a little while, but I had a blast at Jasta 5's Oktoberfest celebration last Saturday! For your viewing pleasure, I present the navigation challenge. Overcast conditions, thunder, rain, extremely stiff winds, and predawn light. What could possibly go wrong? ? https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1606559456

Thank you to everyone who came out for our first Tuesday Night Fights on the ACME server! The smaller map made for near-constant action all night, including one of the longest furballs I've been involved in for the last few years.
Next time, the roles will be reversed and Entente will be on the attack with Central defending. See you in the skies! ?

Hey guys!

2023 was a fantastic year for this channel. We reached Twitch Affiliate status, surpassed 200 followers, and, of course, streamed hours of WW1 flight sim and FPS content. We've truly come a long way since this channel started in 2017!

In addition, since its launch in 2020, my blog Climbing Higher has continued to gain traction. Even though I only have a few articles posted there right now, analytically, I can see that there is a real interest in the content. This being the case, I'll be publishing more book reviews and articles there in 2024. It's a win-win — I get to read more awesome WW1 books and my articles will hopefully draw more people to this passionate community of WW1 aviation enthusiasts.

I'm looking to grow both my blog and my Twitch channel in 2024. As far as my Twitch channel goes, I've been basically running the same hardware since 2018. It's done an excellent job, but I'm now starting to run into some bottlenecks where I could eventually upgrade (PC components, faster internet subscription, better in-stream management tools, new monitor, maybe waayyy down the road new GPU, etc).

Regarding my blog, eventually I'll want to purchase my domain name and start paying monthly costs for hosting and increased site storage.

While I won't be able to do all of these things at once, I've definitely got my eye on them for the future, upgrading and maintaining each of them little by little.

This being the case, as part of the new year, I'm opening a Patreon page to help augment these costs. If you would like to partner with me in this, I will gratefully accept any donations you may wish to put towards my channel and blog's continued growth: https://www.patreon.com/HotleadColdfeet

Ultimately, paid supporter or no, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for viewing, flying, and helping build this community to be the best it can be. ?

On that note...

I'll be celebrating the one year anniversary of my channel reaching Twitch Affiliate status this Saturday. And what better way to do it than to stream the content that started this channel off - multiplayer WW1 dogfighting action! At 1pm CST, I'll be joining the Knights of the Sky server to take part in their Saturday fly-in. Would love to see you there (but if you can't make it, you can vicariously enjoy it through the livestream)!

See you in the skies!
