PeterZvan Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Hi all I have been having massive problems with stutters recently. My spec: I7 4790K 16gb ram SSD (forgot what) GTX1080TI Asus ROG PG279 (GSysnc) res 2560*1440 144Hz) In game I use ULTRA and switch between settings - usually FPS dont drop below 100 - game FPS is usually 150+ and refresh rate is around 144 (G sync enabled) - it rearly goes below 100 Situation - in MP or Sp I have been getting stutters where the screen freezes for a few ms and that unfrezes again. Each few seconds the stutter happens, usually when there is a big change of view direction. I used the G-sync since a long time and for a some time I though it was MP lag or data transfer dependant, (I played MP only), however recently it became unberable because I overcorrect due to the freeze. So I tried of SP as well (QMB, Kuban). And there is no difference. I tried to play with MP traffic limits before, than I changed graphics settings from very high to very low with no significant change - the freeze remains. And what is most annoying - I now tested fixed refresh rate and vsync with 2 frames max pre-prepared. And instead of the stutter I now get picture corruption and smooth gameplay. See screenies below. I cannot find the reason in the settings and I would like to trace the issue if it is my computer so that I replace / upgrade. Spec wise I should not have to upgrade by any way. So something must be off. Perhaps even PSU? (got a brand new Gigabyte 750W high end one) Can anyone help / did anyone experiance something simmilar before stutter (VSYNC) During stutter (VSYNC)
Hartigan Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Sounds like too high GPU overclock or too weak power supply. Maybe your 1080 is broken. Or you can try to remove GPU drivers with DDU uninstaller. Very simple and good program . Then install latest drivers . Use this to calculate power consumption http://www.coolermaster.com/power-supply-calculator/

Use this to calculate power consumption http://www.coolermaster.com/power-supply-calculator/ I have a different point of view from you because I have a AMD Vega64 and a 500W Gold Power Supply and it's enough for BOS on Ultra, I don't believe that 750W is a "weak power supply" to a 1080TI. I had a "microstutterings" before a change my monitor refresh rate at Windows Settings. Did you do that? Edited January 21, 2019 by 3./JG15_HansPhilipp
Hartigan Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Oh,didn't see you have 750w psu . That's more than enough . I had slowdowns, stutters and somekind of "timewarp" effects. Reason was GPU overclock. Couple more MhZ and game crashed. So now it's working with only minor 30-60 mHz overclock . I also use V-sync ( ingame menu) and never let FPS go above 143-144 altought I have g-sync . Tested it many times and many ways , Nvidia inspector / control panel . Also tested FPS limiters but found best way to prevent screen tearing and stutters is to enable V-sync with g-sync monitor. G-sync will take care after FPS drop below 144. 1
SCG_ErwinP Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I enabled in game VSync + FreeSync and have no more stutters. When in ground, i got 50 ~ 75 FPS but after take off, 75FPS all the time (i have a 75Hz monitor).
JG700_Benek Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 (edited) From my experience you can try this: - g sync on in nvidia control panel in full screen mode - v sync on in nvidia control panel (its more to it than just syncing) - full screen enabled in game - v sync disabled in game + 4k skins - in game frame limiter at 140 or external frame limiter set to 142 FPS ie nvidia inspector (use mode 2) in nv inspecotr u can try my settings below for il2 battle of stalingrad profile: of course change 72 fps to 140 I use diff monitor You should be able to run 4xSGSAA if its to much just disable this. PeterZvan Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 Thank you for the suggestions - most didnt work, a few I need to test out still. Behaviour is very strange and I cant seem to trace it. Normally the rig should be handling it without an issue. Will test more tommorow.
JG700_Benek Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Maybe the module in monitor has a problem did you tried a different game?
Remontti Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I can't see the corruption the pics. Where is it?
PeterZvan Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 Compare pilot and numbers on tail - second picture they are much lesss crisp. Problem was also catching the more blurred state - it is much more in the worst case - to the point of making the enemy planes unrecognisable at a medium distance.
Remontti Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Now that you mentioned I can see little bit of blurriness. I guess it is easier to see in-game. I would suggest the same JG700_Benek did: disable vsync in-game and enable it in Nvidia with Gsync. If you get +150 fps with 144Hz monitor your vsync is disabled. My gsync runs more smoothly in full screen. I remember others claiming better results in borderless windowed mode, but I can see some micro stutter when flying past trees at low altitude in that mode. My pre-rendered frame setting was at 1. I tried 4 too, but I don't notice a difference. What about your power settings in Nvidia and Windows (for processor)? Are they set for best performance?
PeterZvan Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 I got everything set on best performace. Tried everything you guys described, without improvement. I also tried another game (asseto Corsa) also with vsync - no issue whatsoever. So its very weird.
JG700_Benek Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 You can also try the MSI Afterburner which is bundled with Riva Tuner Server Statistic and set frame limiter there in RSST just to see if helps. It turns out its better than limiter from inspector as it ads no input lag. BTW do you use any reshade or another overlay on top of your game ? Try to disbale them. Also check terrarin filter and set for blurred just to test if it helps. If you can pls install msi afterburner and record short video of your issue with OSD showing framerate and frame time I am really curious to see this issue in action.
Remontti Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Did the game run smoothly before? If so, has something changed in your system? Updates, new programs or new hardware?
