PA-Sniv Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Since we now have plenty of different loadouts, I was wondering about russian FAB types: what's different between "sv" and "m" bomb? I think "sv" (eg. FAB-50sv) is with old raindrop shape, but dunno if it has incidence on warhead/explosive. Don't know either what's "m" type... Any clue? Cheers,
bivalov Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 many types of FABs were different, and some 50 kg bombs could be based on old artillery shells (iinm, even before 1917), plus production differences and sometimes different explosives, fuses etc, during several periods, so, bombs could have a bit differently effective against infantry/armored vehicles... in fact, not so much sometimes, and could be different shapes of bombs too...well, something like this, i cant explain absolutely correctly and fully, but you can find something in russian internet, really have several good sources which i forgot...for example, fast searching gives what index "м" it's artillery shells... "св" it's abbreviated "сварная" ie it's welded body... etc...
Georgio Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 My interpretation of a FAB bomb is front stalls of saturday cinema and you see the shadow of a thrown ice cream on the screen and everyone braces for the inevitable impact... You have to be English circa 1970's to understand the terror...^^
