Dagwoodyt Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Past several days I have been having problem of getting into full 3D mode when starting BoX. Happened occasionally before but usually resolved spontaneously. Now seems my position in cockpit stays fixed, cockpit moving with me if I try to move closer to instrument panel. Anyone else seeing this or know solution?

If it only happens in MP then it's a server setting, not yours. But check your game settings first.

I have been able to get back into full 3D as of this morning after some fiddling in WMR initialization. I have "Limit VR view" enabled but it is not the issue. I suspect it's a SteamVR "thing". Problem, when it happens, comes in form of not being able to move closer to instrument panel because my position is fixed and cockpit moves with me.

Honestly, I can't stand MS's AR platform. I tried it, vomited all over it and the nuked it from the orbit. Anything advanced like that should be a stand-alone solution and not some half-baked-embedded-in-to-OS mess.
[CPT]Crunch Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Turn more light on or up, wmr automatically turns off the 6dof if the light isn't up for the cameras.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 (edited) Good advice, hope it helped. If it was another issue: Are you using the application in Steam called "Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR" ? You are not supposed to use "SteamVR", it creates issues with dashboards jumping and loss of tracking. You must use this: https://store.steampowered.com/app/719950/Windows_Mixed_Reality_for_SteamVR/ Edited January 18, 2019 by SCG_Fenris_Wolf

So what corrected the issue, which occurs randomly it seems, is to disconnect the HMD completely then reconnect. Did that just a bit ago and immediately got into full 3D in WMR Hill House. Appears that if OK in Hill House will have full 3D in iL2. Had I done that sooner I could have saved myself much frustration. Thanks for input All.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Aah yea that was it. I sometimes forget about this as well. Must first start WMR, get in, turn around so it recognizes the environment, and 6DOF are activated. And only then start wmr for steamvr + IL 2. Yep. Good you found it by yourself!

What I have noticed in dealing with this issue is that one might go thru the entire WMR calibration routine conscientiously only to discover that full 3D mode has still not kicked in. WMR will ask you to look from side to side and then down toward the floor. Well, just out of frustration I turned very far to one side and WMR did not allow me time to look down. It entered Hill House immediately. This was the clue that I was in full 3D mode. I don't know how else one figures these things out except by persistence. I can image someone returning a headset or doing multiple reinstalls of several softwares without success. Anyway, thus far this method seems to work consistently for me. Thx. (The above assumes you are giving the WMR calibration system adequate light.) Edited January 20, 2019 by Dagwoodyt
