I have made a profile for IL2 but I do seem to have a few problems with Target,  it will not start at times, once it's closed down from start up and I try again it says it's already running so then I open up task manager and close anything I see for Thrustmaster then try again sometimes it will work but I usually end up rebooting. Once I get it running it will be fine or I could be flying then the guns will stop working yet I can still control the plane then if I put flap down the windows will open (P39) yet it's not set for that switch to open the windows in fact I have set any switch to open windows it's like all the key command have just changed!

These are just examples and it can change any key command to do any action just not sure what is happening anyone else had thus happen?

Will start a new profile or tweak one I have DL and see if that solves the problem.

Go here IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Moscow/data/input/devices.txt in notepad or whichever txt program you use and you should see your controllers.  Using Thrustmaster TARGET software your controllers should show up as being combined. and then whatever you are using as rudder pedals, like this

configId,guid,model|

0,,|

1,%222e1e4b40-486a-11e7-0000545345440680%22,Thrustmaster%20Combined|

2,%22fec80c70-746d-11e7-0000545345440180%22,MFG%20Crosswind%20V2|

0,,

If you see more than that the game could be confused about your setup.  When you fire up TARGET and tell it to run whichever profile you want do you test it with "Event Tester" and "Device Analyzer"?............ if it works fine there it should be working in game.  If not on the devices.txt file delete items below the first 0,, start TARGET and restart your game, it will reformat that txt file with what you currently have running under TARGET.  Never start the game without starting TARGET first, it will see your controllers as two separate entities.

Cheers

Thanks  Hoss will check it out once I'm home (at work at the moment :(), that could be the answer as I was using a HOTAS Cougar few months ago.

Cheers

Edit i Just had a read of your reply again and I think I did run 'Event tester' and 'Analyzer' and I couldn't understand why the button I was pressing wasn't coming up with what the key press should be hope this is the problem sounds like it could be.

I have been using my Warthog for the last 5 years and have never used the TARGET software and I fly regularly in  IL2,  DCS,  WT and X-Plane.

Just make your axis/button assignments from the drop down controls listing and fly, I can't imagine any necessary use for the TARGET software.

I try to make as many assignments as possible similar for all planes to avoid confusion and then make a few assignments specific to a particular plane.

Same here - I used to heavily use Target (Script Editor) for the planes I flew in combat flight sims, got away from it just a few years ago and glad I did.

I just use the in game controller setups. Granted I wish IL-2 controller setup was a little more diverse, I still get by with it fine though.

Also now I am only using the TM Warthog throttle.

Have done the above all was as it should be but I deleted the lines and started again seems to be ok so far if I have problems again think I will do away with TARGET and just use the game to program the joystick.

Thanks for for the help everyone.

I've been using the warthog throttles for several years now and I absolutely love them. I wouldn't want to fly without the target software though. It's programmability exceeds the controls offered in game by leaps and bounds. One example: you can set 3 main levels and two sub-levels for the controls (think of these as using alt, ctrl, shift and windows modifier keys on a keyboard). This will effectively at least triple the number of commands you can execute with the throttles. All commands that I use very frequently during dogfights are not only on the throttles, but on the throttle handle, so I never have to move the hand off the throttle handle while fighting. I even trigger my guns using the China button. Forward for machine guns, back for all guns. Missing a target because I've pressed the joystick trigger too hard is a thing of the past. I use an MS FFB2 stick, but even that stick profits from Target: I've put Ctrl, alt, shift and win modifier keys on the throttle thumb pov button. Combining these modifier keys with the joy buttons has quadrupled the amount of controls I can trigger via the joystick.  I never take my hands off the joystick and throttle handle, and never take my eyes off the screen while fighting. That's ergonomy heaven for me. Because even the target software has some limitations I combine it with autohotkey, a very  popular scripting language. E.g. I've programmed a lot of acoustic feedback from my hotas. I don't stare deep into the cockpit or at the edge of my monitor to see when I've set Max continuous or Max combat power. I get a "ding" sound as the throttle reaches 80%, and a "dingding" chime at 86% throttle. My throttles literally tell me whether I have activated the FW190, BF109 or the generic control level, or if I'm in bomber or fighter mode. This makes the system ultra comfortable in is use, despite the level of complexity.

There's more to the combination: Autohotkey can differentiate between a click, a double click and a longer press. Also handy: key sequences. I press the same button, and each press triggers a different action. You can also trigger mouse movements and clicks via Autohotkey. I hate having to switch to my mouse or keyboard to end the mission. One warthog key feeding into Autohotkey does that for me.

IMO the game controller assignment is great, target software is much better, and target+Autohotkey are sheer bliss.

Thanks for the info  Papafly I'll look into Autohotkey but sounds complicated will stick with Target for a while and see how I get on so far so good.
