Boat and trains in Career mode

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

In the new Career mode in BoS and BoM I have not seen yet a mission in which you have to destroy boat and/or trains...

I remember that in the old Campaign mode sometimes there were this missions

There were boat and trains in this game! Destroy boat and train missions seems to have disappeared from the game...

Can anyone help me or confirm this fact?

It's something the team wants to add in further career mode updates.

No boats yet as far as I know, trains are in for sure -- I get missions for them in the FW190. Might just be railroad junction* but there's always a train there.

Ok you're right, but in "Railroad junction attack" mission, the train is stationary...

Yes, in my current Moscow career there is never any train attack mission (or any railroad junction attack neither), after about 80 sorties..

When BoS was first announced, I was excited at the prospect of protecting/attacking all the river traffic crossing the Volga that the battle is so famous for. Sadly, this never materialised. I was hoping one of the clever campaign creators might make one featuring such actions.

What would be cool would be a type of "line search" or free-sweep within a quadrant or general area, where there are random ground-targets (like road-convoys, random trains* and boats on rivers or along channels).

This type of mission is actually very historical (for both sides) and was pretty common.

* Well, as trains normally are scheduled, the intel could give you a fairly exact time as to when the train is supposed to be where. We all know about the puncuality of some trains, though...

Yes, and unfortunately also mobile ground targets are very rare. I flew an "intercept motorised convoy" once and I must say it was a blast.

In a few words, I guess we can say that we desperately need all the improvements which are planned and maybe more, then career versatility of mission kinds will be great. But for now, it's still quite unfinished and monotonous.

Yes, they were commonly referred to as Armed Reconnaissance in the ETO. Probably a mission type we can expect to see.

The career system has a solid base, but in order to become really great, they have to do again one or two iterations, for example what OP sait, but also map tools and AI - then we will have a truly epic career mode. As of yet, it's "just" not quite there yet.

It's career mode, not campaign mode. Campaigns are scripted.

So what time-scale are we talking about LukeFF for the team to add this?
