Cooperative mission multicrew - join as a gunner?

Hi,

first, thank you for creating a great game series.

 

Now, I was trying to create a coop mission using PWCG for a bomber crew. The issue is, I am not able to create the mission (or modify it in the editor) is such a way, that my non-flying buddies could join as gunners on my plane. Is this "gunner slot" feature supported for coop missions? If not, are there plans for it in the near future?

I posted in the PWCG forum first, but it seems to me that this is more sturmovik-specific feature (or lack of). Do you have any hand-made coop missions that do support multicrew?

 

I tried a "hack" by saving the coop mission as Deatchmatch and putting it into the Dogfight folder, which partially worked (I was able to load the mission and see the "Join as gunner" button on the map screen), but the mission ended right after it started (as completed) and there were no planes to join. It seems to me, that there would need to be more fiddling to do before this hack could work.

Just a note to convince the sales team ?

I could buy more copies of Sturmovik for a few friends if this is supported, since they would be able to join as a gunner or tank crew member. They do not fly, but they might be glad just to join and take a ride. And I might not be alone.

Just something to think about...

In the mission you converted to dogfight:

 

Open it again in editor.  Click on "search and select" > find mission objects > and click the box "translator mission objectives"

 

You can not delete objects from this window, so make sure the boxes "move camera to object", "select object", and "set group to working" are clicked and then dbl click on one of the mission objectives.  Close the search box, and delete the mission objective.  PWCG is tricky, cause he puts a ton of mcu's right on top of each other....so make sure you are deleting the right one.  You have to repeat the whole process for each objective it found (usually 2 in a pwcg mission ).  Now your dogfight misison should play, but am not promising it will play as intended.  Earileir PWCG mission relied heavily on the lead Friendly plane getting into the air.

 

as far as the gunner thing,,,I can't help you too much there....I know allowing gunners to be occupied is a server setting, so make sure you have it enabled when you host.

Hi, I tested what you were suggesting and it worked - the dofight server did not immediately finished the mission.

However, there are still no airplanes to join (I would probably have to make some airfield spawnable and I would not be able to join the coop airplanes anyway).

So yeah, this hacking approach seems more trouble than it is worth going through.

 

So for now I have to stick to proper dogfight servers if I wanted to play with gunner friends.
