Screenshots and GIMP issue

I have a problem with showing the .bmp screenshots of the game in GIMP.

 

In any of my photoviewers the image shows up normal like it is in game (A). In GIMP it turns out with an alpha layer (B) and when removing the layer the landscape turns out white (C).

The only way I can edit the .bmp at the moment is by opening it in a photoviewer and making an screenshot of the image and opening that one in GIMP.

 

The solution must be very simple so perhaps one of you experts can give me a clue?
