Outdated Data Hit Recieved ??

These are rampant in Wings of Victory server that I frequent. .... we did have a lot of players on line .... 58 I think.

 

What causes these ?

 

What do they actually mean ?

 

Net result as I observed was I saw an outdated data message with me listed and what I presume was the guy firing at me, I saw an enemy aircraft fly past, about 10 seconds later damage started appearing on my airframe .... no hostiles near me. I can only summize that these hits that suddenly started appearing were caused 5 seconds ago by the bad guy I saw fly bye ?

Seems like lag from a high ping connection to me, or possibly server problems. 

They've just released a hotfix for weird MP damage behaviour, is this before or after the hotfix?

After the hotfix
