Hello, when you say CoD 5, do you mean the release of Team Fusion Mod 5.0?
I had a long stop, I'm not updated and I love both CoD and TeamFusion
Thank you!

Mod does not exist anymore. In december 2017 TF made a deal with 1C and got source code of CloD, this allowed them to take over a long abbandoned by maddox (probably publisher decision which was ubisoft) project and they are working on new expansion which is suppose to be Sands of Tobruk. People call it 5.0 but i think TF should actually drop that 5.0 thing, it makes people confused and then some think that they worked 6 years on this and are upset. Still thinks it's a mod, since TF 4,3 (?) was published in 2013 i think. Last patch was 4.5 that made this game to be released on steam and Cliffs of Dover Blitz.

Like i said mod is gone and now this is semi-full project. Devs work in their own free time but thanks to the source code, they can do much more and expansion that will take place in africa is about to come. It's going to be a paid expansion and important one, sales will tell if TF will see it's worth to still support CloD and make more expansion.

Sands of Tobruk should be huge from what we know, a lot of new planes like Marlet, P40, Bf109F2, Dewoitine D520 and more, new map, bunch of new AI units including historical ships like Admiral Scheer will come too. A lot of fixes, AI improvments and campaigns for single player.

You can watch some video updates on their yt channel:

Tobruk is dlc for clod. So if you want to play it you will have to buy clod first. If you already have clod you can just buy it as dlc for your game.

Are any of the improvements retrospective though, like when BoK increased terrain draw distance this was done for BoS BoM and BoK along with Improvements to all map textures.

So things like the new UI improvements for instance, will that only be available to people who purchase sands of tobruk ?

Yes, they said all stuff that improves and fixes game will be free. You can already see that in last patch, 4,53? Something like that. Don't remember numbers. Basically what you pay for will be map, new planes and assets for African theatre.

Some stuff that will be added to clod should be free (99% sure) like new ships etc. Don't know about fw190 should come after tobruk for clod. Should be free since they said they won't charge for single planes (I wanted ju52 as premium ? ) so unless they decide to make bigger channel dlc after Africa, should still get some bigger free stuff later on. But that's something buzzsaw should answer.

Long story short, fixes and upgrades like new explosions etc. Will be free for maim game.

All the technical improvements which arrive with TOBRUK will be retro-actively added to CLIFFS OF DOVER - BLITZ.

That will include the new weather systems and clouds, new AA, new AI Behaviour coding, etc. etc.

There will be improvements to the CoD Blitz vehicles and coding of the use of vehicles by players.

Players who own CoD Blitz will not be charged for these improvements.

We are also making improvements to the Channel Map... these will be installed free in Blitz.

So there will be a new update on Steam for owners of CoD Blitz... it will download/install when you run the game just like the rest of our patches.

I am also thinking of adding a couple small ships for free to CoD Blitz so the BoB can be replicated better... but may not.  Depends on what 1C says.  No large warships (Battleships/Cruisers) will be added.  You would need to buy TOBRUK to get these.

That is excellent news for all those who have Blitz, I personally intend to purchase the Tobruk module but others might not straight away so hopefully they will see enough good things in their existing game following these additions to make them want to buy into the new expansion. ;)

On the subject of free additions for Blitz, I would think that if it has been made and fits the time period of Blitz then surely it should be added anyway be it a small object or large warship, that way it could actually help further sales of the existing module and increase interest further for the series as a whole.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

People would not even notice :P If anything then making "free" dlc with a plane would be better idea. Simple marketing strategy. There was (still is) a lot of day 1 dlc, bunch of small shitty dlcs with 1 new armor for 4,99$ etc. Witcher 3 devs got a nice idea and they added bunch of small dlcs like this for free. Not as a free patch, these were actuall dlc you could add for free.

They could add it as simple patch but then people would not notice, free dlc was a good PR move. So if they would want to do something similar (not really sure if i would even matter in a sim genere and community) then having "IL-2 Cliffs of Dover British ship pack Free" would be better than patch no one would notice.

Yes, certainly a idea worthy of consideration, however, here Buzzsaw mentions only certain types of boats that I assume are already made for Tobruk and so that would mean to make a ship pack you then need to actually build a certain number and variety of types to again garner that interest, that would stretch this particular team even further and put back Tobruk to a point where we might actually stop caring and move on.;)

Adding some of what they already have now that is relevant to Blitz could go out as a patch before Tobruk releases, that way we as existing customers get to play test some of the improvements and hopefully suitably impressed we fly the flag for the next module.

Anyway, our conversations here will also do that without the team doing anything I hope.:drinks:

Id like to know about release option.

As I know, TFS 5.0 will be as payware and free (for Blitz owner) option.

Does the time will be the same of this patch and payware version (Tobruk) or the first we will have free patch (with some of engine changes) and the next will be Tobruk addon?

Maybe its a good idea to release patch firstly and next, when the Tobruk map will be finished - release payware addon? Just idea.

It's not free for anyone. It's just like BoX expansions, bug fixes and improvments will be free but not map, new planes and campaigns.

TFS 5.0 you will have to pay for, that is the Tobruk module, however, the team has said that it will add certain updates to Blitz for those that do not want the new module that would be considered relevant to both for normal game play such as weather changes, textures, AI and such as far as I understand it.  Those changes would just come with any update of the simulator/game as has always been the case for existing users.

There have been certain updates mentioned if memory serves that are for aircraft more relevant to Blitz than Tobruk, however, I think it fair to say you will only get those if you buy the Tobruk module, not quite sure.

For sure its clear but why we must wait for Tobruk map to see the others improvments?

For me the best way:

1/ Free patch for Blitz owners with new features (weather engine, 3D objects, clouds, new AA, new AI ect.), sooner + time to report bugs.

2/ Payware addon "Tobruk + planes" as addon for the Blitz (when its ready), no rush

Is it possible?

Because it's not ready. Things you said like AI, weather, clouds etc. it's still not done. I know someone asked it already but i can't find answer. If i remember it right, they want to release everything at once for bigger "WOW" effect instead of making the same mistake like they did with Blitz. We got much better version but people still cried and complained and review score is 60% on steam.

They want everything to be polished and release it with as much stuff as possible. Big free update + expansion released at the same time should have had much better inpact on sales and interest than small patches here and there most people would not notice. After all, fate of clod depends on this expansion.

My only fear with that game plan is they may end up with a bigger WTF effect instead, trying to cram in too many changes at once . I'm hoping it is not  the case , as I will be on to the African theater ( my favorite) as soon as the version 5.0 hits the interweb shop.

Yes, that's true, it's a thin ice, more changes = possibility more bugs.

I think safetly to separate those things (to polish TFS 5.0 Blitz by users) especially that "Tobruk+planes" addon its a very big project and we can wait 1 year even.

The first improvements on sim engine, next addon but it's not my decision ;) . Please see that old things like AI or Radio conversation are buggy still.

Tobruk+Planes is "one minute purchase " for me at the same day when it will be available. :)

I read somewhere ( probably ATAG site ) that there is still quite a wait  for 5.0 what with Alpha & Beta testing to be finished, possibly as long as 6 months from now.Does anyone know if that is a pretty accurate ball park estimate of timing??

Every year I usually ask in about the 6th month if 5.0 will be released before Christmas. The past few years answers are quite obvious. You will have to wait a couple of months, but I will get back to you with an answer when I know.;)

Not that long.

I expect 1C will make an announcement soon.
