Formation leader always too far ahead

Formation leaders seem to always be too far ahead of the rest of the flight.

 

The other planes seem to have no issue flying close to each other but cannot fly close to the leader.

 

It would be great to improve this behavior in order to create more immersive SP content.

Agreed. They never catch up to him.

Is this on russian side? If I remember correctly, that's actually how they flew, with one experienced pilot leading the lot somewhat ahead of the rest. So this might be correct behaviour.
