No_85_Gramps Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Currently in the PE-2, if my gunners exhaust their ammo, and I switch to their position, I can get the guns to re-load using the LAlt-R key. The guns do re-load but they will no longer fire. Am I missing something, or is that the way it works currently? In the Yak's, if I take two bombs on a mission there doesn't seem to be a way of dropping them singly. None of the bomb commands have any effect on them. Again, am I missing something, or is that the way it works currently?
RedeyeStorm Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 For the Yak, check the info on the plane in the mission briefing (tab). I do believe the Yak can only drop the bombs in pairs. On the Pe2 do you mean the side gunners? All the other guns are beltfed and cannot reload.
RedKestrel Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 IIRC in the Yak-1 the bombs can only be released all at once, it doesn't have the ability to set a salvo/drop amount options for bombs. In the MiG-3 you can drop singly or both at once. Not sure about the Pe-2. Is there a command to charge the guns after reloading or something?
=RvE=Windmills Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 (edited) I'm guessing he is still seeing the bolt pulling back when clicking reload, even if the ammo is out. Edited December 18, 2018 by =RvE=Windmills
No_85_Gramps Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 Thanks for the replies. I thought that was how the bombs dropped in the Yak and Mig-3. As far as the Pe-2 gunners, the turret, belly, and waist guns all have the same results. They all re-load and the counters show full loads, just not firing. It's a pain when you are being attacked in a Pe-2 and the gunners run out of ammo.
-SF-Disarray Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 The gunners in the PE-2 carry no extra ammo. The animations you are seeing are likely the jam clearing, which is basically the same as reloading with the substantial exception that no new ammo is involved. It is indeed a pain in the ass when your gunners run out of ammo. The only way I know of to mitigate this is to set the gunner AI to not engage until the enemies are at close range. This can be done by hitting tilde, then F3 then F1 and F1 again. That will keep the gunners from shooting at things that they really have little hope of hitting. 1
Eicio Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 By the way it's not a bad thing to drop all your bombs at once, having only one bomb hanging of one wing is dangerous.
