Hi all,

I realy would like tank crew on my wishlist, and want to know how it holds up in VR (oculus rift)

and is it neccesary to have il-2 stalingrad installed, or does it run on its own.

The Battle of Stalingrad already has 2 playable tanks.Only if you wish to have more tanks you have to buy The Tank Crew.

VR in tanks is pretty good, certainly claustrophobic with low situational awareness which is pretty realistic I guess.

I don't have Tank crew so I'm only commenting on the basic tanks but the experience is very 'tank-like'.

Where VR shines in this sim is the planes, my god the cockpits, the dogfights , the skimming along at grass level hedge-hopping with a smoking engine and fuel light.

In short, the IMMERSION and I say that in capitals as you breathe it, you bathe in it and you sweat it as your back flinches waiting for cannon shells and a face-smashing slam into the dirt. Even after months of VR in this sim, every time I get tracer streaking past my cockpit I physically jump.

Tracer that lazily arcs up that forces you to skim under it, streaking through a bomber formation hoping that you won't catch a wing, skip bombing ships, taking out trains, it's all there but now it's real except for the oil and the blood.

Forget the naysayers that whinge about the lack of resolution, they're idiots, simply if you live this era of warfare and want to experience just a tiny percentage of what real pilots went through then this sim and VR are where it's at, simple as.

Ok, i installed BoS en did a test run with the Pkw-III, it realy looks en feels good the imersion is right there.

Only trouble is the key to joystick procedure, it doesn'"t seems too work, and some keys dont work at all,

and control by joystick is what you realy want in VR, maybe they have fixed this in TankCrew ?

And indeed, i never can go back to flatscreen, i run DCS and Skyrim in VR, and its super.

VR in the tanks is unrefined yet lots of potential.  The devs haven't said much about VR for tank crew (if anything), so I hope they plan to over deliver.  Once they get the controls worked out (I have advocated for controller support as it solves a bunch of VR issues) we might just have a decent VR game.

The thing that might complete the feel of VR for me is if the gun sight worked without having to press a button.

@Giorgio

My,  you said it all . . .  what a perfect description of the VR experience in Il2.

To me it is a dream come true.

Flying in VR is incredible . . .

. . . driving a tank, well as you said it, is claustrophobic (and yet great! Just driving through a dense forest is fun in this game. Even more if no one is shooting at you)

I mounted a so called butt-shaker to my chair (like they had in the surround sound cinemas) so every time I fire a gun or got hit I feel in my whole body . . . it adds a lot to immersion
