Those are the engines that the A-26 used, same as the A-20.

Yes, you are right. I was mistaken. The A-26 did use the R-2800's though. It was a speedy sonofabitch.

I'm i the only one who thinks it's pretty cheap?.. I can't afford it, but compared to most really expensive cars it's not that much actually. Keeping it running will be another story i guess. 

 

EDIT: Yes it is very cheap. Compared it to the rest of the collection, and the Spitfire and fake09 are almost 10 times as expensive. The corsair is a whopping 4M.

Yes and sold two to be able to operate one.  Would have been great. I wonder if I ever would gotten to fly it myself.

Hmm, buy a brand new SR-22 Turbo for 800k or that bada$$ A-26 for less than half and have some money left to burn on gas.

Insurance (and DOCs) must be a killer, though.

Not sure if any owner flies their warbird more than a three-digit amount of hours.

It's just too expensive.

 

Generally a good thought, though.

 

You can own a lot of "Ted R. Smith designed" airplane for considerably less.

Two hot candidates would be the Aero Commander/ Shrike or the Aerostar.

Once you know about it, the Aero Commander / Shrike 500 series looks familiar to an A-20 connaisseur...

 

Bob Hoover did a thing or two with this great little airplane.

 

The TPE 331 direct drive turboprop powered 680/ 690 is a pretty sick performer

With the big motors (-10), I'll go 300KTAS.

 

Now, the other Ted Smith post-war design of huge fame is the Aerostar - that design pretty much speaks for itself:

 

 

Anoher great designer working on the A-20 and A-26 was Ed Heinemann.

Well, obviously two great minds working on those two mid-size bombers and no wonder they turned out to be great.
