Bremspropeller Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Never seen the raven or Mickey on any JG 51 Fw 190. Just had a quick look through all my JG 51 associated books and the only emblems I ever found were either the falcon-head (JG 51) or the goat (I/JG 51).
FTC_Riksen Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 - The first symbol you posted is for the 4/.JG52 which is part of the II./JG51; - The second symbol is a general one for the JG51 unit in general (all gruppen); - The third symbol was used for the 1./JG51 which was part of the I./JG51; - The forth is a symbol for the First Gruppe of the JG51 (I./JG51); - Fifth symbol corresponds to the one used by the II./JG51. Now when u say first, second, and third JG51 units in Russia are you referring to Gruppen or Staffeln?
sevenless Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Some more details here: http://www.jg51.de/JG51_2009/wappen.htm 1
Pierre64 Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Look at this article from the highly recommended FalkeEins’ Luftwaffe blog : http://falkeeins.blogspot.com/2013/11/junkers-ju-352-aeroplane-archive-fw-190.html The stylised chamois on a shield was painted under the cockpit on some Stab and I. Gruppe Fw 190 A-3s of JG51 at early stages in Russia as seen on the photograph below:

I know it will look boring, but as far as I know JG 51 Fw-190s with winter camo did not show any unit emblems. 1
PatrickAWlson Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 The bird with the umbrella seems like a BoB era emblem given that it says "Gott Strafe England"

As for the OPs original question: Neither 1st, 2nd or 3rd Staffel I. Gruppe Jagdgeschwader 51 used any squadron emblems on their Focke-Wulfs. Their FW 190s only showed Group emblem, Geschwader emblem or both or none at all, at least on the pictures I have seen. Edited December 11, 2018 by sevenless
adler_1 Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 Winter camo I as well have never seen any emblem on their winter camo , i have done the IL2 ones years ago and they were just plain white with in some cases the yellow ID markings . BOB era The markings are from their 1940 presence in France during BOB flying Emils . They were then painted in some cases on their Freidrichs even though they left the channel area . JG51 markings I will skin JG51 FW's white with Geschwader emblem anyway as a generic to give color and the greens with the first group emblem as well unless i find more images of group 2 and 3 along the way in Russia . 1
MiloMorai Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 It is not group 2 and 3 but II and III Gruppe. II./JG51 III./JG51
