JtD Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) DB 605 B, C, F and G. B, C like A but different reduction gear, F like D but different reduction gear. G early designation for AM(?). (from DB documents) 605 T, abandoned test engine. (from Allied German engine report) 605 BS, like AS but different reduction gear. (from Allied German engine report) 605 ASCM, DCM, C3 fuel and methanol injection. (from Allied German engine report) 605 DM, D engine with B4 fuel with methanol. (from Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-1 through K-4 - Engines and Fittings) 605 D-2, better supercharger than standard D, probably same supercharger as AS engines (from Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-1 through K-4 - Engines and Fittings) 605 ASMO, DMO, initial designation for MW50 engines for both B4 and C3 fuel. (from Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-1 through K-4 - Engines and Fittings) No info on production figures, I've read 42000 total, but I still hope this is helpful for you. Edited February 13, 2014 by JtD 1
Kurfurst Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Its difficult to say. We know about 42 000 of all 605 types have been produced, but each type has been used by several planes. Obviously the 605A and B variants were the most numerous, the trouble is that many have been upgraded in 1944 to AS, AM, ASM, ASCM etc. models. It is certain that every of the AS/ASM, AM models were made in the thousands, given that types which used them were also produced in large numbers in the last 18 months of the war. Perhaps the D series engines could be guessed more or less, since these were only used in the G-10 (ca. 2600 produced) and K-4 (ca. 1600 produced), thats at least, 4200 605D series engines, if not twice that much because of reserve and cirulating engines. Anywhere between 6000 and 8000 D-series would seem as a realistic figure to me. Of the 605DM I'd say probably only a few hundred were ever made, it was only fitted to earliest 109K/G-10 only. 1
MiloMorai Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 There was only 2048 neubau G-10s and 1377 G-14/As neubau produced. Mustang, this link gives number produced to Dec 1944, http://orbat.com/site/sturmvogel/airrep.html#Ch7
NZTyphoon Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) According to Die deutsche Luftfahrt: Flugmoteren und Strahltriebwerke (Kyrill von Gersdorff, Helmut Schubert, and Stefan Ebert) http://www.amazon.co...f/dp/3763761284 there were 42,400 DB 605s built from 1941 to 1945, with the overwhelming majority going into the Bf 109G/K and Bf 110G. Plus there were Hungarian built Me 210 Ca-1s. AS & D G-5/AS = 91 G-6/AS = 686 (Nest of Eagles, Peter Schmoll http://www.amazon.com/Nest-Eagles-Messerschmitt-Production-Flight-Testing/dp/1906537127 ) G-14/AS = 1,373 from Mtt Regensberg + some from Erla (Nest of Eagles) G-10 (mostly DB 605) = c. 2,600 K-4 = 1,611 (Mtt Reg) plus handful by Erla (Nest of Eagles) 6,361 DB 605Bs (same as A with different reduction gearing) Bf 110G-0 to G-4 = 3,096 (x 2) Me 210Ca-1 = 272 (x 2) 6,736 Edited April 4, 2014 by NZTyphoon
