Panthera Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Been wondering why you always start out seated so low in the 190 ? Is there a "raise seat" button I've missed somewhere? It's a bit of a pain always having to readjust the Track IR everytime I switch to fly the 190.
purK Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Center & pause TIR, hit Page Up key to your liking, F10 to save head position. Re-enable TIR.
Panthera Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 Roger that, but why do you start in that position to begin with? Doesn't make much sense IMHO. Might as well make the default position the same as in all other aircraft ingame, i.e. inline with the gun sight.
KaC_Richard_Rogers Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 I believe the seating position is correct but what is missing is the light refraction that allowed a pilot to be able to see out and over the nose of the 190. see this video for a better understanding of what we are missing regarding Windscreen Refraction. DSR_A-24 Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 I thought I was the only one. Whenever I fly the Fw-190A8 my head level is so low I can barely see the gunsight. I don't remember this happening with the Fw-190A3. I agree it gets frustrating to the point where I don't even bother flying the plane.

If it still hasn't been changed then it's worth bringing up, right? Sometimes the only way to be acknowledged is to be loud enough for long enough, and if it wasn't for the people bringing stuff up we'd still propably have to deal with artificial engine limitations like in... Oh, wait.
EpeeNoire Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 wow, didnt know they cheated on the FW design THAT heavily! how is this still not changed seeing this video was uploaded four years ago?
Matt Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Because the hardware requirements and subsequent performance drop for accurately modelling refraction did not change in the last four years either. 2

I see. well, why not just cheat on the "accurate modelling" in favour of the fw then? just make the visible area close to reality by decreasing the frame thickness. should be easy enough

You are quite right in principle, and in fact they have done that, by increments, several times. At some point it becomes impossible to make it thinner without breaking the mesh. This was/has been a point of contention for years until it was finally fixed into what you see now, it used to be like...twice as thick. Could it be made even thinner? Possibly, but let's not bring this particular horse cadaver out again, it's seen enough abuse.

But i guess only popular/most complained airplanes get that kined of atention Edited December 6, 2018 by 77.CountZero 1

Well if they implement RTX they could do it it just works after all. Maybe the new RTX Titan will be enough to make 30fps ^^

Oh, wait. Because yelling and screaming isn't going to change anything if the hardware / software capabilities to render it properly are not there. The devs aren't ignorant about people wanting this to change.
