313stim Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Hi, After some times spent with IL2 GB series a found Audio settings minimalstic yet. Actually a I have played on the latest build 3.007 last night and experienced engine sound in cockpit too NOIS. So I navigate to Audio settings and found my Volume is 20% ! So lower it to 9% - but experience engine sound in cockpit still too noisy! Switch to external view F2 very close to plane than engines are almost quiet. weird. Strange thing, because windows audio and other games audio looks ok with no problem. If compare IL-2 Audio settings to other games in common sound settings is really minimal. Only Volume adjustment and checkbox on-off for "Title music" and "Interface sound". As solution I expect to get advance settings in Audio to be able adjust e.g. engine sound (external and internal in cockpit), weapons sound , radio sound, music sound, ambient sound etc. Appreciate if devs taken this improvement in account. Thanks. 1 7
IRRE_Axurit Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 I have sound problems too, I would also like to separate the different volumes.
RedeyeStorm Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 +1 Yes the engine sound also completely overpowers the speech. I can barely make out that something is said. Germans, same problem even with the use of the german sound mod that makes speech louder. I recently flew the Pe2 and the engine sound is the same overpowering level and not tuned like two sources from the side.
Bilbo_Baggins Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 Put it at 100% in game volume and adjust down to compensate in Windows volume mixer.
Kandiru Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 Good news is Veterans get free hearing aids in the US.
eRoN Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 Engine sounds are also a complete fabrication and nothing at all the actual ones. Engine sounds of other planes are also far, far too low. Sounds are the the Achilles heel of this sim, but most people don't seem to care about it, but to me at least it is really important. I hope one day dev's will acknowledge and fix this, but atm they just deny anything is wrong, as jason did a while back while congratulating their current sound engineer, despite the fact anyone can check engine sounds on youtube or other games, and tiger33's mod who has already done all the work, whom i wish they would hire/or buy from him to implement). 2 2
LLv24_Zami Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 If you have 5.1 surround selected for Windows sound configuration, change it to stereo from the control panel. This should help with too loud engine sound.
RedKestrel Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 The fact that you can hear other engines at all in game is stretching it a bit. Planes are loud folks. Especially when right next to the engine.

Anyone who has this problem, I recommend to take my advice.
RedeyeStorm Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Can confirm Zami’s solution. Not only with 5.1 or perhaps 7.1 but also with Dolby surround (Corsair Void headset).

Especially when right next to the engine. Doppler effect & Audio spectrum band, you can hear other planes whether your engine is loud or not, and their engines are also loud. Also set up a game where you sit on the runway with canopy open & engine off, and listen to AI planes overhead. Planes at 500m sound like they should be at 3km. Edited December 9, 2018 by eRoN
1foggy Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 Hate to be a thread necromancer, but I didn't see where anyone else was addressing this. I'd also like more sliders for different sounds in the game. I like to play with the volume loud in VR so the engine noise is high (feels more realistic) but I'd love to be able to turn the slider WAY down for the constant yelling by the German guy over the radio when flying a Bf-109. I don't need to hear it (especially since I can't understand it lol). Would be great to have a separate slider for radio/voices volume.
Charlo-VR Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 I don't think we have much or any control over specific sounds' volumes, but part of your solution is here (if you'd rather hear all radio voices in English) Also, if you get a Buttkicker or bass shaker, then the software at this thread will allow you to feel as much as hear the sounds, with some degree of control about how strongly you feel some of the sounds 1
dburne Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 (edited) Well one never knows. Apparently the next update will be bringing some changes... Of course no idea whatsoever what these might include. I am like a kid on the way to the candy store, can't wait to see what all is in this next update. Quote The answer is that we plan to release an intermediate update before that, it will add some important functionality and new features. They will be based on your feedback mostly and will bring some features long-awaited by the community. The update 4.007 is already in beta testing and we hope it will be ready in the coming week. DBoy Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 You can turn down the radio volume in game, deals with the yelling pilots thing.
