il2crashesnfails Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 What is the max safe speed to lower landing gear in a 109? does any expert here know? I'am always afraid to lower if going too fast. I did a test when going over 700 km/ph and it didnt go so well.
planesyplanesy Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Not sure what the basis of your question is? The 109 is a very stable aeroplane at fairly low speeds so why you would want to lower the gear at 700 is beyond me? If its to test the dynamics and damage modeling of the sim then fair enough but frankly I wouldn't attempt to lower the gear above 160mph.
9./JG27golani79 Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 (edited) The manual for the other sim™ says max airspeed with lowered gear for K-4 is 350 km/h G-4 / G-6 for example are also 350 km/h (page 10) http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/techref/manuals/bf109g4.pdf Edited December 3, 2018 by 9./JG27golani79

Sometimes in a dive I can't pull out of it and crash into the ground because of excess speed. I was wondering if it could be used to help slow the aircraft to help establish control. 45 minutes ago, 9./JG27golani79 said: The manual for the other sim™ says max airspeed with lowered gear for K-4 is 350 km/h G-4 / G-6 for example are also 350 km/h (page 10) http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/techref/manuals/bf109g4.pdf That's interesting I wonder what the structural problems are if you exceed this on the airframe
[PFR]Sarpalaxan Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 If you have enough time to extend the Landing Gear i would suggest to start cranking that pitchtrimmer. The trim surfaces still work at high Speeds.

[CPT]Crunch Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Generally the manual isn't giving you a gear limitation, it's for the doors. The MLG is pretty much the toughest thing on the airplane, it's not just going to fall off, the doors, they're going bye bye and probably taking other pieces with.

If I lock the gear down, they have no problem handling excess of 500 kmph!
