SCG_ErwinP Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Hi all! Probably there is some topic with the same question but i couldn't find it, so, why we haven't the pilot body implemented in BoX? I think that it will bring a huge imersion to this game. 1
BP_Lizard Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 There’s actually a mod that enables the pilot in cockpit in some of the planes. Downside is you can only use it in mod-enabled online servers, which are very few. And, the fighter pilot’s animations don’t correspond with the actual actions, such as, movement of stick, pedals, throttle. Bomber pilots, however, were better animated.
Gambit21 Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Yes, you’re correct - it’s been discussed before. Do a search. 1
JonRedcorn Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 (edited) This would be huge for VR immersion. Even with just an animated throttle and joystick. Most likely the reason we don't have it is doing it right would be a ton of work. Animating the arms to reach for things and hit prop pitch, throttle, mix, all that stuff would be insanely difficult with each and every plane. I think they rather not half ass it, although I wouldn't mind personally. Just seeing legs would be sweet. May try that mod out but I don't want to use it and wish that I could use it online. BubiHUN Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 It would block the view on lot of intruments wich is important during flying. 1
IckyATLAS Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 If I am not wrong Jason said that they may do it now that they have a new dev in the team that is good at modelling. The problem is that it is time consuming to have the animations like arm and feet motions according to the cockpit position of throttle, stick and pedals, made for each plane. The excellent mod from LizLemon allows for it and the animation is right (If I am not wrong for the Pe 2) for one plane and with varying degrees of offsets on throttle and pedals on the other planes.

IckyATLAS Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 I have no idea. But I imagine that in VR there is probably less conflict between instruments view and body view. One day we will all fly in VR anyway, when image quality, FOV, and all the rest will be perfect.
LoneStar_47 Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Quote It's unlikely we can increase the number for MP slots. We hope to improve MP with the 84 players limit we have now. That would be a good step. We recently made some changes to MP code to try and improve things. We want to eventually include the pilot body for VR, but it takes a fair amount of work due to the animations. Luckily we now have an on staff animator, but he is busy with other work at the moment. There is a mod that does a rudimentary job of that now though. Check the Mods section. Jason Jason wants to add pilots body for VR. I would like to see it as an option for non-VR also. I would like the option to be able to record in track file for video recordings but not during the actual flight. 1

Yes works in VR, not perfect though, feet goes thru pedals, arms not in the controls, dont move when you are pushing buttons or levers , so block some controls , and the pilot wipes his googles with his hands too often, and its in the way. (there is a mod to stop him doing it). There is the shadow of your head in the cockpit, a great effect that adds realism, you will notice it more when flying with the sun low on the horizon. The way it is now I wouldnt use it in MP even if server allows mods. But all this gives you an idea how much immersion will it give if properly made. 1

I don't want a mod 'cause the few number of servers.

[CPT]milopugdog Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 While I don't have a reason why, there's this:

With how much effort was put into implementing VR, I don't see this as a remotely unreasonable request, and I think it's good that people keep bringing up features that they would like to see in game in an attempt to get the devs attention. 2
PatrickAWlson Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Love the title ... Pilot body in Box. Sounds like the outcome of far too many of my missions. 6
