Blitzen Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 (edited) For quite a while I have had real problems trying to get BoS to start using the Steam screen using Oculus VR. What I usually get after hitting 'start BoS in VR," is the game starting on my monitor, but within the headset I continue to get the "Home Room " set, along with the music from that room & eventually the sound effects of BoS. Of course I can quit BoS on the Monitor by using my mouse pointer to leave the game....BUT if i try ( again ) to restart the game through Steam I get a message saying the "game is still running "& I can see by looking at the menu on the left that Battle of Stalingrad & BoS VR have "Running " after them...so in some way or another BOS has't stopped running ...somewhere in Oculus or Steam. Now I can stop this effect by going back into Oculus VR home & either stop the current app ( this apt indicated by a digital "bug") which is pretty obviously BoS OR I can chose another VR game to play temporarily. Either one of these will effectively stop BoS "running." If I try once again the start BoS from steam 9 times out of 10 I have to go through the same process until, somehow, the sim starts. My work around has been to make a shortcut to the BoS and use the OTT to tune the game. This works every time. However recently I've tried to use Steam again trying soe new settings & I get the same problem popping up. Edited December 2, 2018 by Blitzen
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 (edited) Hmm the issue with your Oculus Home installation and the SteamVR compositor not closing is independent of ingame graphics settings. I read what you wrote "SteamVR SS setting may interfere with OTT setting", which is correct. They stack upon eachother. Thus, you can either use SteamVR or OTT. SteamVR calls it SuperSampling, OTT calls it Pixel Density. SteamVR SS = (OTT's PD)² So 169% = (1.3)² In SteamVR, the value would be called 169%, and you'd get an equal value in OTT by selecing 1.3 Only use one of these ?? Blitzen Posted December 2, 2018 Author Posted December 2, 2018 Thanks for this tip! May I ask one further question? If I can’t correct these problems with Steam start and decide to use the shortcut to the exe and OTT should I turn off Steam before starting game play? Thanks!
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 I believe SteamVR is always necessary to launch the game in VR. You want to start the game from the Steam Library, it's the best way. Order to do is: Start Oculus Home Start Steam Start SteamVR Start IL-2 from Steam Library ?
