Dutchvdm Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 (edited) During my Stalingrad career. ? I started a JG3 campaign a while ago and am still alive and kicking in the beginning of October. (10th). It's all going pretty well, but i was wondering about the weather. I knew that Stalingrad had a nice and hot summer in 1942, but i also thought that the Autumn was quite rainy during that time. Until now it's all been sunny every day with some clouds. And not a day grounded due to bad weather. Did one of you guys played a Stalingrad career till Winter and experienced some real bad weather? Thnx M Edited November 30, 2018 by I./ZG1_Martijnvdm
ShamrockOneFive Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 I'm not sure about 1942 but your question had me go look at the historical averages and in October-November they only historically have 5-6 days of rainy weather though November has a mean precipitation amount of about 30mm of rain. I would expect it to be more cloudy perhaps. Though maybe not.

No really an issue, but i would have expected a lot more grounded due to weather days during the campaign. Just like in ROF. Grt M
1CGS BlackSix Posted November 30, 2018 1CGS Posted November 30, 2018 September and October were very warm and sunny near Stalingrad in 1942. The temperature in September was 15-25 C, up to 10 October - 10-15 C. This had a huge impact on my last campaign since I wanted to do missions with bad weather, but the data from the archives were against me) 3 8 3
Dutchvdm Posted December 3, 2018 Author Posted December 3, 2018 Hi BS, Sorry for my late response. Thanks for the answer. So the career does take weather in account? I was just surprised there where no days scrubbed due to bad weather, but i guess there was a reason for that. Grt M
migmadmarine Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Also, has anyone gotten rain/snow on a career mission? I've played plenty and still have yet to.

I have not flown the Stalingrad Career yet, but I have flown Moscow through to late December (before my tragic demise) and never had to fly in rain or snow. The worst was either high wind or about 8/10 cloud cover. I suspect that is because in Career the rain/snow causes flying to be scrubbed for the day. Which is fair enough as an approximation.

I believe the Bf-110 had quite some bad weather mission's during the Moscow Career. My guess is that mission's would be scrubbed for single engine fighter and attack units. But maybe BS can shed some light on this. Grt M
migmadmarine Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 I've flown a fair number of Ju-52 missions in a Stalingrad campaign, would love to have some bad weather ones for the challenge.
