Stolle Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I am using the Oculus Rift headset and had the chaperone boundary turned off by editing the vrsettings file. But now it appears that the chaperone boundary is back after the last steamvr update, but now it shows up as a white circle instead of a blue one. When I go to the settings in steamVR it shows that the chaperone boundary is off, but it still shows up in the sim. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know how to turn this off ?
blur Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I had the same problem. I clicked on steamvr settings and I happened to hit a button called quick calibrate and it went away.
Herne Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 I've got this too, but cannot find the setting you are talking about. the ring is so damn frustrating
Pajeka Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 I think it can be found in the ‘Developer’ selection. Not at my PC at the moment to confirm, but if I remember correctly it is the last option on the Settings page.

Developer options > room and tracking > select small space and quick callibrate
89- Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Also spent 2 hours battling this, and did not see this page either -until now :) The other solution that worked for me is deleting collision_bounds stuff in Steam/config/chaperone_info.vrchap Looks like this now : { "collision_bounds" : [ [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ] ], credit https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/0/1741101364297725743/ I wish Valve pulled their finger out and gave us a normal option tick box to disable the flaming thing!
rowdyb00t Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Great! Now if I can figure out how to turn of the asw
BlueHeron Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Man, thanks for that. That was frustrating for a while!
kestrel79 Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Ooo this worked. Blue ring gone. Now it's asking me to setup my playspace again...if I do that this isn't going to bring it back right?
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 (edited) Thanks guys, this was bugging me as well! SteamVR at it again... ??️ This "thank you .gif" Blitzen posted should become standard on these forums. ? Edited June 12, 2019 by SCG_Fenris_Wolf
kestrel79 Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 So doing the above made the ring go away...but then on next startup it is back again. Grrr. Just make it a checkbox Steam come on.
Stolle Posted June 12, 2019 Author Posted June 12, 2019 I'm using a rift CV1 and this is what I use to get rid of the ring: Make a backup of the file you are changing first then: Open Program Files (x86)/Steam/config/steamvr.vrsettings and insert this above the "steamvr" lines "collisionBounds" : { "CollisionBoundsColorGammaA" : 0, "CollisionBoundsColorGammaR" : 255 }, I hope this works for you.
