Georgio Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Sorry if this has already been discussed but I haven't seen anything, but will the bomber positions be multi-player i.e. 4-5 individuals all in one bomber?
Georgio Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Omg this sim just aquired Godly status. If this makes it to release and is stable then maybe the ghosts of B17 II can finally be put to rest...
SYN_Mike77 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 They already have this in Rise of Flight! 2 seaters, multi crew bombers even multi crew sea planes that you can go U Boat hunting with.
kestrel79 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Really looking forward to this. I love flying as a gunner! And with what we have seen so far the gunner seats look very detailed.
Georgio Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) Yep should interesting if we can get stable connections with say x3 bombers with three crew, pilot/bombadier and nimble air gunner + a few flying escort, vs say six enemy fighters. At this rate even Crop-Duster is going to come out of retirement....^^ Really looking forward to this. I love flying as a gunner! And with what we have seen so far the gunner seats look very detailed. Edited February 11, 2014 by Georgio
Charlo-VRde Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I hope it will be possible for the BOS bombadier to be a separate person from the pilot. In ROF only the pilot can drop bombs. Ideally, having the option of the bombadier as a separate role from pilot in BOS would also be a feature that ends up porting into ROF. Charlo 2
Georgio Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 The developers have stated that bombing will be similar to ROF in that respect. That is a pity; for the sake of realism it would be nice for the bombadier/bomb aiming to be as authentic as possible. Having the pilot aim/drop bombs in a dedicated bomber like the He-111 is a bit arcade to be honest. Still let's get MP in the game first then worry about the finer details later ^^
Sokol1 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 To "realistic" drop bombs in He-111 you need first engage autopilot (the "Kursteureung" thing) that try fly plane stable in the set course - but the bombardier is able to make heading corrections if need to align the bombsight. The pilot in this stage is a mere "passenger", so not big deal if human pilot play as pilot and bombardier. Sokol1 2

Cybermat47 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Oh man, imagine if this system was implemented in a game with Lancasters and B-17s :o
Tycoon Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Oh man, imagine if this system was implemented in a game with Lancasters and B-17s :o Yeah, perhaps in the future?
Sokol1 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 You can try this (pilot AND bombardier separate) in the icoming il-2'46 TD 4.13 patch (with improved Norden - the best representation until now). Sokol1
Plurp Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 In CLOD a second person can be the bombardier including setting up the sight and dropping bombs with the auto bomb drop on the german bombers. I am not sure if the bombardier can drop the bombs manually, will have to test. The bombardier has to call out left/right to the pilot, so it is a team effort.
