Moving install to a new laptop

Hi guys. I have updated Il2 to the latest version on my current laptop. I copied the whole folder and pasted it onto my new laptop in exactly the same location Program files (x86). I updated all  3rd party software. Il2 does not want run.

 

Alternatively I downloaded the installer focused it on the copied install and went through 3 party software again. Il2 does not want to run.

The launcher say play but does not want to run. 

 

Is the installer structure different to the past. It keeps on creating a great battles folder.

 

Please assist if you can.

I would suggest deleting all the copied IL-2 files from the new laptop, then installing IL-2 properly and test it to see if it works. Then (and only then) copy the files you want to keep (not the whole directory) into the IL-2 directory on the new laptop.

Copy the "input" folder from the old install to keep your configs. Then reinstall fresh, and overwrite the input folder. This is the best way since IL-2 has a new install structure.

You can copy il2 to another machine and I should work fine , have mine copied 3 times since 2014. Just install all 3d party utilities from similar named folder in game directory. I once had problem with ROF bud run exec throw debugger and found what was missing (unresolved call to some libs) and download it from web once know what looking for. Sure you can reinstall and copy config files .

Thanks guys. Could it be windows 10?

 

After i did the paste ..updated the 3rd party.. the launcher, launches checks game and then says play., so no prob uptill there.

 

My internet is on i click play but it just quits does not even start. Same when i launch with .exe. 

 

I will proably have to do new install.

I'm not sure how fast your internet is, but I did a reinstall a couple weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised how fast the download went.

Thanks guys for the advice. Went for a new install and that did the job. Still not sure why the copy did not work...but happiness is being in the air again plus with better hardware...?

Glad it worked out, I can't tell you why it didn't work, but I fresh install is usually a good thing to try. (Right after turning it off and on again. ?)
