Bf 109 K-4 and the MW50 tank...

Can we assume the MW50 tank will be ?

1) Fully filled BUT only above a given total threshold of Fuel in the aircraft settings ( what quantity threshold ? );

2) Same as 1), but filled to the same amount / percentage used for the whole fuel load;

3) Always fully filled;

4) Always filled to the same amount / percentage used for the whole fuel load [ like 1), but irrespective of threshold... ]

And, do you feel the impact of the MW50 tank ( given it seats behind the pilot seat ) in the CoG location is being reflected in the present representation of the K-4 ?

You're overthinking this. The MW 50 tank is always fully filled, regardless of fuel settings.

Ok,

Thx for the info Luke, but then I wonder, shouldn't it be noticeable, the CoG moved aft requiring pitch trim settings a bit different from what we're able to use presently ? Wouldn't there be a pitching up tendency under most configurations / Speeds / AoAs ?

It should, yes, but I've not done any testing to see how this changes.

Ok,

think I found the reason for there being less need to adjust the stabilator trim - the ground adjusted trim tabs are set so that as soon as there's propwash the elevator deflects down ( pitching down moment results ), and we can see it while in the rw, brakes set, advance the throttle. The stick in the cockpit also moves fwd consistently and considerably.

It's OK, I believe.

Not sure if the Cog moved, as you cannot tell that without a proper loading plan, or flight manual for the type. The general idea would be to maintain the CoG as much as possible.

Lot of internal componets moved around in the K (radios, for istance), the MW/fuel tank was bulit in and  replaced the old aluminium sheet armour, which happened to be the same weight as the tank, minus fluid. You also have a heavier gun, a slightly heavier engine and propeller well in front of the CoG.

is MW50 installed on the current 109K? I get low pressure warning when throttling up and i cant seem to see any guage indicator for it?

(<-- newb to MW50)

i got the same as you Mewt

You need to increase throttle to atleast ~95% to engage MW50. There's a gauge on the top left of the instrument panel that indicates MW50 pressure.

This is the gauge for MW50 - if you go above 1.7ata it should start to rise. Just don´t slam the throttle forward too fast because this was when I got the low pressure warning when trying it out (didn´t have the warning ever before).

It went away after a little while though so I think it just needs time to build up.

Small correction - just saw that the gauge will start only to rise above 1.7ata

Yes, I've gotten the low pressure warning as well - so then the key is to throttle up smoothly after 1.7ata to make sure the pressure is built up.

This is important because you can be stuck at low boost when in an emergency.

Really nice details indeed!

Glad 1C / 777 have taken their work seriously, as usual...

OK, it worked fine before (right after release) but now the DB605DB engine tank is not working for me at all. Can't build pressure no matter what I try. Always get low pressure warning.

Weird because DB605DC is working OK...
