NiiranenVR Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I'm sitting in the plane and ready for start , and take a look at the time - but time stopped The green start signal show off , and when take off the time start ! Later on when I'm back and the plane is landed , the time stop again ??
IckyATLAS Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 Completely normal behaviour. For a pilot living is flying. Only counts time in the air. On the ground time stops to avoid loosing your life capital.

IckyATLAS Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 Just now, LukeFF said: Huh? He's talking about the internal stopwatch on the German aircraft clock. Correct. Same for the plane. Plane dead on the ground, but alive in the air. 1
Martin077 Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Since you can only use the start power for more or less exact one minute, is it possible that some pilots use the clock as a stopwatch and start it when they start to throttle up to not miss the 1 minute mark? I dont know if it was able to use the watch as a stopwatch?
Mauf Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 This thing indeed was a stopwatch (at least for the seconds I think). Minutes and hours are probably like any normal clock. Do the minutes freeze on the ground?
NiiranenVR Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 Okey .....I didn't knew it was a stopwatch .....and about the minutes I have not looked wether start/stop But what did they use the stopwatch for - navigation or other things
NiiranenVR Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 A link to the watch https://relojdeavion.es/Me BF 109 in.html

montag Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Stop watches are useful for navigation. If you go for your PPL you will practice using a stop watch to estimate ground speed and things like that to get better at navigation. They're useful for a lot of things and pilots would often keep one in their flight bag, but most people can just access the stop watch on their smart phones these days so not as much need.
