Can i request P47 skin? It seams it is very suited for this beauty. It is two different sides of the same plane. Thank you

That's actually a P-47N.

I have no idea why that museum painted the call letters 2z on the side of their "BIG CHIEF." That airplane was assigned to the 56th Fighter Group and had the call letters HV on the side.

It is now called Squirt VIII. 1953 build machine.

I’m working on the 78th FG Eileen should have her ready by tonight, if my wife keeps her hands off me...lol

It might have been refurbished but it certainly wasn't built in 1953. Those production lines were shut down in 1945.

My fault:

Delivered to FA Peruana as 547, later FAP122.
- BOC: March 1953.

They must have been in the process of changing the paint scheme when that picture was taken. And just for the record, that isn't a 1953 build. They stopped building P-47's in 1945. 1953 was the year the airplane was deliverd to Peruvian Air Force.

Oops! Already mentioned.....never mind!

I knew that once the Jug came out, the skinners were gonna go crazy. There are so many great paintschemes for the airplane that it should keep you guys busy for a long time.

The Eileen was completed already thanks to SZELLJR, his has the Black tail, mine does not...So you get 2 for the price of one...lol Enjoy!

P-47D 42-75429 was assigned to the 84th Fighter Squadron of the 78th Fighter Group at Duxford. Pilot Frank Oiler gave it the nickname ... Eileen.

My last one for a bit.... "Eight Nifties"

KNISLEY, Clyde Vernon Jr , 510th Fighter Squadron.

Maj Clyde V. Knisley joined the Regular Army in Charlotte, North Carolina on 31 October 1941.
He attended 4 years of college and was a salesperson.
Statement from 1st Lt Thomas P. Petit:
"On 19 January 1945 at 1600 hours (4:00 pm), Clyde flying as White Leader led the 510th on a bombing and strafing mission to provide air support for our ground forces in the Diekirch area of Luxembourg. The following is taken from White Three, 1st Lt Thomas P. Petit’s after mission statement: “In the vicinity of Tandel on the Luxembourg-German border, we dropped down to 1,000 feet with Major Knisley in the lead and we in loose trail to start our run. I saw Major Knisley's ship hit by a burst of flak in the fuselage beneath the cockpit. The ship shuddered and he radioed that he had been hit badly and turned away from the target area; a flame was seen, but it stopped momentarily. After that there was a white puff and the whole plane was ablaze from the fuselage back. The aircraft turned on its right wing and headed for the ground. At about 50 feet the Major jumped from the plane and the next instant it crashed and exploded violently. I didn't see Major Knisley's 'chute blossom."

I salute you Sir! RIP!

I'm currently working on it but I'm not quite happy with it yet, camo doesn't look too good. I've posted some screens earlier in the thread if you want to see it.

Thanks, the wolf head is what took me the longest to make, other than that it's a very simple skin.

OUTSTANDING Work! as always! Thank you, Julian! Muchas gracias!

Thanks Julian - really nicely executed skin.  On a point of detail, I see you have painted the canopy frame olive drab rather than the natural metal of the original.  Is that an oversight or by design?

Update

Yes now,forget those details.
