Sorry it's taking so long boys. I'm having to do a lot of corrections to the template. Keep in mind I am not complaining at all. I truly appreciate IDCP's template. I'm gonna reach out to him when I am done and give him my Normandy ID stripes for the belly section and the corrected realigned roundels for the USAAF. If you notice on all yours beautiful skins so far on the outlet cowls, there is a section of blue missing.

I also noticed that. It's not missing but only matches when the intercooler outlet is fully closed if I remember my test right :salute:.

Hi Bugsy.

Appreciate the update to Big Stud.

Just wondering if it's me but I looked at the pics I posted and;

The maximum black squares on the tail upright is 14. I count 19 on yours.

The serial  number is missing.

The markers on top of the wing are also missing.

Sorry to be a PIA, but hope you don't mind me pointing it out?

Cheers MP

It’s from the book A Higher Call, about a Luftwaffe pilot who helped save a B-17. Definitely worth a read  :salute:

Say, Bugsy, why don't your Thunderbolts have any shine to them?

It kind of surprises me.

Lt 'Ike' Davis 366th FS, 358th FG, 9th AF

Toul air base, France, April 1945

Story found on this site: Diecast

Davis was known to have had 2 girlfriends at the time. And rather than run the risk of naming his assigned aircraft 433240 after one or the other, he decided to name it after his younger brother Hal.
And being from North Carolina (The Tarheel State) he settled on ‘Tarheel Hal.’

The aircraft was severely damaged by ground fire during a strafing mission in mid 1944 and even though the pilot (Lt Davis was not flying it at the time) was able to bring Tarheel Hal home it was damaged beyond repair and the aircraft was scrapped

I must be doing something wrong with these Google downloads, the file when I unpack it is corrupt and crashes my game, on the original 392nd skin and the Big bird skin. I use Zip to extract it and I don't see the skin when it's unpacked it's a standard windows icon.

So happy with these skins thanks to everyone. Never a need to apologise for a skin being late.....its a skill I just don't have.

Quick request, I'm sure we all remember the REVELL P=47 with the black and white cowling....I'm going back to 1960's, The box art had the aircraft in front aspect as it lifted off...so it was just engine, checkerboards. My big brother built it, he was really good at that....I played with it and trashed it....but I was little, so I survived. Anyone know the skin? No worries if not.

Respect to all skinners

the shinys look weird in the new IL2, like wet instead of shiny. Not sure why exactly, but I gravitate more towards the other birdies. The paint should look lie paint, we run into this in DCS as well.

Guys I'm trying to find any decal or art on the P-47D Eileen. I have the skin 90 percent done unless someone else is making it. I can use a hand if you find the art thanks...

It must be fairly high quality..Please

I need some help with IDCP's great template, the area of the skin on top of the cowling and fuselage top under the OD paint in particular. The light shade pictured on top of the cowl is evident both with and without the OD paint underneath. I moved the layer I created for red cowl nearly to the top of the template thinking the issue was with some weathering but nothing changed. Also, when I remove the OD layer the template shows the NMF, but when I put it into the game, the NMF isn't evident any longer just a dull light brown color. Is this the a result of the Alpha layer or something else I'm missing?

It's the alpha layer. Load up the alpha and edit the areas you want to be shiny and then paste it into your skin template alpha channel.

Thx Legioneod. I'll give it a shot. The Alpha layers are still a mystery to me.

...and from the photo it looks like the invasion stripes did not go on to the top wing. The photo shows them stopping at the leading edge. Great subject, and hopefully a quick fix to the very nice skin.

OK Gents

After messing with the Alpha layer and learning Photoshop. I have been able to tone down the alpha layer to make it more eye pleasing. I still prefer the dirty look but I think you'll be happy with these. I ran each one in game and they look the part forsure. I am deleting my other posts so there's no confusing on skins....Anyway here's the final skin's.

Thanks to Yo-Yo for pointing out the alpha issue and big thanks to Spektra and Tom Weiss for giving me some help with learning the alpha...
