Starting from a standalone collector plane?

For reasons... Im not allowed to get Bodenplatte for the next month, however I'm looking at getting a P-40E to get into the swing of this series and have something for early war servers.

Is that currently possible in this setup, or do I need to wait until I've got one of the Battles?

Thank you,

You need one of the full releases.

Ah well. Guess I will have to practice that lost art of "patience" then won't I?

Not sure if this will happen but IL-2 tends to follow along with the Steam sales of which one begins on Thursday the 22nd. In the past, we've seen IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad and Battle of Moscow on sale on both the IL-2 website store (my recommendation) and on Steam for 66% in the past.

You could get either plus a 50% off P-40E-1 for $17 for the title plus $10 for the Collector Plane. That's a lot of value.

I would always recomend to buy the Premium edition with the collector planes included.

And check out their Website '777-studios'

Steam takes around 40% from the buying price and if you purchase it from their site, all goes to the developer

For the same "reasons", I've got my own PayPal set up just for small purchases that I know will not be approved through the chain of command.

BOS was on a super sale recently and regularly has 50pc off sales.

the p40 is an excellent plane to learn on but it's not super simple to master and can feel quite underpowered at times.

however, it's excellent vs bombers and ground targets.

also, once you can fly it with full engine management turned on any other fighter will be a breeze.

Load 40% fuel and 4 guns only and she isn't that bad. Then there is "the last resort" full open throttle setting which will burn-out engine quickly but gives tons of power. However, in the Kittyhawk you can use potential energy very well and only when you end slow at the deck things become truly difficult.

That's probably because it is. It has one of the worst power to weight ratios of any WW2 fighters - about equal to D3A1, A-20 or IL-2. But yes, devastating vs bombers (given their escorts are sleeping) and can take out half of entire Wehrmacht's soft vehicles with 4 fifties and extended ammo.

If there is time to climb you can accelerate using the extra altitude, attack a bomber and then run away in a shallow dive. The escort will not be able to stop you but there will be only one chance to engage.

This raises a question I've had. I own BoS and BoK. I'm not really interested in BP, but am intensely interested in the P-38 collector's plane. If I just buy the P-38 and not BP, what can I do with the P-38? Can I fly it in MP? Can I fly it in any of the BoS or BoK SP modes?

You can fly it in MP and in a custom SP mission or using the QMB, but not in the career mode of BoS or BoK.

How is the turn rate and roll rate at speed? I'm seeing the low power to weight ratio, especially when fully loaded, but I do notice it has a relatively moderate wing loading, albeit in an older air foil design.

Thinking if you can come in with good energy one can maneuver with 109s and 190s if one is careful to preserve and energy advantage.
