Average/Target FPS?

HI all,

 

Played the original IL2 when it first came out and am making a return to the game now with a newly built rig (Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX 1080Ti) and having become comfortable with HOTAS and Track IR (where have you been all my life?) I am looking at optimisation for fps.  

 

I ignored this and just played to begin with and had a blast - I only noticed issues when zooming in when there would be a bit of a stutter.  If you zoomed out and back in again this disappeared so a minor issue.  I was surprised to see that fps were as low as 40 when the weather is bad and there is a lot going on.  All of this is in career mode and ultra settings.  When I am travelling to target I get between 70 and 80, 111 if I look straight up.  I love the look of the ultra settings so essentially the question is what is the acceptable low fps limit to play this game with?  Should I sacrifice graphics for higher fps?  If so where to start?  Also does multiplayer tend to have higher or lower fps than single player?
