No.401_Wolverine Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Really glad the Canadian squadrons present are going to be represented. 126 Wing had a pretty big impact. Plus, first jet job downed by the 2nd TAF, so it'll be nice to recreate that Great work, IL-2 Team! 1

csThor Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Knowing the amount of research and actual gfx work for a project like this ('cause I made most of the german emblems in CloD) all I can say is Kudos, Spektre! ? 1

Antares789 Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Wondering if you'll be adding in the 334, 335. and 336th Fighter Squadrons. Originally the 3 Eagle Squadrons they went on to claim many victories and firsts, most notable the first to penetrate Germany, escort bombers to Berlin, and first to shoot down a jet fighter. They claimed 1,016 enemy aircraft, more than any other unit of the 8th Air Force.
SOLIDKREATE Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 (edited) I can’t reveal anything that you haven’t already seen I don’t think. I’ll let Black Six or Jason answer this question. Edited November 17, 2018 by 429FS_SPEKTRE76
O_Smiladon Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Hi All, Question, will the RNZAF squadron 485 be included in Bodenplatte? Which played a part at Maldegem. Cheers O_Smiladon 1

poy Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Any reason the Polish squadrons have French colours on them ? I did a little research but couldn't find an answer

Compare the 365th Thunderbolt patch pictured in Spektre's wonderful display (thanks!) with the present squadron's new patch. They changed after the war to the National Guard's 163rd Fighter Squadron and used a long succession of a/c from P-51's through F-16's but in 2010 they resumed flying the Thunderbolt [II]. Okay, the they fly the Warthog, but I use the never used official name in reference to the original and present patch which you'll notice is based on the original Bolt design. I did a little research but couldn't find an answer I believe that is supposed to be the tail color insignia found on the RAF birds as it is flying in that direction. I'm pretty on the other side of the bird the colors are reversed from what you see in my emblem. Meaning if the arrow was reversed, the colors would be red / white / blue instead of what you see now. 10 minutes ago, TP_Sparky said: Compare the 365th Thunderbolt patch pictured in Spektre's wonderful display (thanks!) with the present squadron's new patch. Amen, brother. The Warthog is the best all-around airborne ground-attack system in world history. Nothing else comes close. Lower speed and higher loiter time like the SPADS of Vietnam for supporting front-line infantry. Night vision and precision weapons capability. Good for low-intensity anti-insurgency or high-intensity anti-massed armor. No pretense. No BS. It just gets the job done at 110%. They oughta take every general that tries to replace them with F-35's out and make them burn crap barrels for fifteen years. Edited November 18, 2018 by TP_Sparky 2 1

Hence the number and colours. Edited November 18, 2018 by Art-J typo 1

Just as an aside, not just for you but for others as well as I see this a lot, the RAF and Commonwealth airforces don't use ordinal indicators (e.g. -st, -nd etc.) so it would be called No. 302 Squadron rather than the 302nd Squadron.

Yes, most of the RAAF fighter squadrons saw service either in North Africa / MTO or the Pacific. 453 Squadron was one of the few exceptions to this, in that they served both in the Pacific and NW Europe. In fact, they were the squadron that was supposed to provide cover for the Repulse and Prince of Wales, but a total breakdown in communications meant the two ships were left to fend for themselves. SDF_Falcon Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Seeing that the airport (woensdrecht) is already on the map, why isn't RAF (Dutch) Squadron 322 on the list? There are some great pictures and video's of them! Would be great to see them flying in spitfires again in the Netherlandshttps://www.defensie.nl/onderwerpen/vliegvelden-tijdens-de-tweede-wereldoorlog/vliegveldenoverzicht/woensdrecht/multimedia

Switched to the continent 3rd January 1945 from Biggin Hill. 3 January 1945 to 21 February 1945 RAF Woensdrecht (B.79) 21 February 1945 to 18 April 1945 RAF Schijndel (B.85)
