I decided to start this topic to post my stories from my virtual flights.

SPIN

We were preparing to go to a "support to a front line" mission in Stalingrad, if I remember right. We were a five MiG squad, and, during take off, my plane spun it bad, real bad, maybe two spins, shaking laterally, and it ended up perpendicularly to the lane - You know, they are a bit sensitive on take offs - The two other MiGs behind me dodged my plane and took off.
After that, I realigned my airplane and this time I performed a correct take off.
At this point I was far behind my squadron, I could hardly see them, but nevertheless I was approaching.
At a half way of the mission point my aircraft suddenly shakes up violently, up and down. I could swear I was pushed up and down too, but in reality I was safely sat at my chair, in my room, but that never crossed my mind in that moment. I was there, with my Vive.
Then I looked in all directions looking for enemy aircraft, since I was still far way from the combat point, it was unlikely to find some Bf's and, in fact, there were none. I looked for flaks but I was still over Russian territory, it could not be the case.
Those moments were brief and intense, and then I realized my MiG was trembling like if it was hit. I looked at the wings, all normal, I looked backwards to the right side, all normal, and then I looked backwards to the left side and my stabilizer was not there. It was gone.
It must have been damaged during that spin and during the flight it was ripped away.
I managed to fly back and did a terrible landing. I kind of crashed in the lane.
Are these kind of detail that, to my understanding, make this simulator so great.

Hero of the Soviet Union

 

Last night, continuing with my career at Kuban, the mission was to intercept enemy bombers and I decided to load my Yak with rockets. Six rockets. I had tried it before with little success, but nevertheless I would try it again.
When we spot the planes they were six He 111 plus maybe two Bf's 109. I was way above and dived towards them. For the first Heinkel I shot four times and the last projectile hit the plane putting it in flames and heavy smoke. I passed through it and aimed for the next one just ahead. I fired the remaining two rockets and the last one ripped away his right wing, making him spin in a way that the left wing ended up pointing it up to the sky.
After that I was full of adrenaline and went after how many Heinkels I could find discharging every bullet till my guns were empty.
I the middle of all this I was hit too and chose to head home.
In the log, to my surprise, I was told that I had brought down five He 111. Two I was dead sure.
After that, in that screen where we receive medals and money, I got three new gorgeous medals. Order of the Patriotic War (late), Order of Lenin (late) and a big gold star, Hero of the Soviet Union.
The Hero of the Soviet Union is maybe twice the size of the other medals and it is hanging above all of it.
I liked it very much.
