talvikko Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 AMD processors are much cheaper than Intel now so I think about buying Ryzen 7 for my new PC. My question: Should I expect the problems using AMD Ryzen 7 during plyaying IL2 BOS?
wombatBritishBulldogs Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 (edited) No not that i've found running the Thread Ripper But if building your rig Be very careful when inserting the Chip / CPU into its socket and follow advice given via youtube even though its well documented via the instructions ! As for cheaper guess it depends on what your building ! spending $5K on the MB before even mounting the cards or board in the case ! Edited November 12, 2018 by wombatBritishBulldogs 1 1
talvikko Posted November 11, 2018 Author Posted November 11, 2018 thank you for your advice. But I would like to know if will have technical problems with the game (for example crashes, low performance) if i will use the computer equipped with AMD Ryzen 7 instead of Intel architecture.
ZachariasX Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Check out this thread: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/29322-measuring-rig-performance-common-baseline-for-il-2-v3005/?tab=comments#comment-472249 As long as you are not doing VR, you should be fine. 1

Yes, you'll be fine unless you play in VR. Ryzen CPUs have poor single thread performance, which is really important for Il-2 (and most other games). However, you'll likely be limited by the GPU most of the time, so the CPU won't matter much. If you're curious about the rankings of any CPU in Il-2, check out the PassMark Single Thread Performance benchmark. It has an excellent correlation with in-game performance (but keep in mind that overclocking is not taken into account). For Il-2, it's good to have a CPU that scores close to 2000. Anything much lower than that will make stutters more severe and reduce frame rates in heavy scenarios. For a pure gaming PC, the lower-end parts from Intel generally perform better for the price thanks to their single thread advantage (especially unlocked models). talvikko Posted November 11, 2018 Author Posted November 11, 2018 So: 8 gen Core i3 8100 (3,7gHz) should be OK? (even if it isn't listed at the game requirements table?)

(even if it isn't listed at the game requirements table?) Yes, the i3-8100 will run the game well. Performance should be fairly similar to a Ryzen 7. The system requirements are quite outdated; they refer to very old hardware. Recent i3 models have become substantially better. Edited November 11, 2018 by Mitthrawnuruodo 1
LuftManu Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 (edited) No problems here with my Ryzen. All maxed out, never a dip below 60fps although if you want really high FPS or aim to VR high speed single core Intel is what you are looking for. Edited November 11, 2018 by LF_Gallahad
