Lazduc Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Purchased several titles here but have yet to try them. I have purchased a computer that I wish to use only for gaming. It has the following configuration: I7-4790K, 32GB ram, Geforce 1070 with 8GB, 3 SSD's-1TB total, MSI-Z97S MB. Will this run IL-2 in VR? I have also noticed that the developers are in Moscow. Are they associated with Eagle Dynamics? Does IL-2 have 3rd party developers? Also Battle of Bodenplatte is now in early access. I have purchased other titles from another company in early access and waited several years. Sometimes features that were supposed to be included, never make it. The very purpose of this newer computer is too try and only have stable software that is in a released version. But sometimes to purchased titles that almost finished but operate correctly. I do not want to load software on my other computer for fear unfinished software will crash it and I will have to spend hours trying to repair. On the I7_4790k system I wont care. But still, I wont load any beta type software. I am very much looking forward to Bodenplatte. I will load the current titles I have purchased here and hope to see you in the skys. Laz 2
dburne Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 (edited) 1: Yes it will run in VR. Even better if you overclock that 4790k, very easy to do and just keep eye on cpu core temps. Keep in mind only the IL-2 Great Battles series has VR support. So currently, in order of release: Battle of Stalingrad Battle of Moscow Battle of Kuban And then Battle of Bodenplatte, currently in Early Access only. Map is not ready, and only couple of planes so far. 2: Do not worry about Early Access with these guys. It will be stable and quite nice, although content will be coming in bits over a period of time. If you prefer to have it all at one time then yes wait until it gets to release. And no , not affiliated with Eagle Dynamics. Edited November 11, 2018 by dburne 1
taffy2jeffmorgan Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Also remember to compliment that gaming rig with a good joystick and TrackIR head movement sensor. Enjoy.

Laz 1CGS and the IL-2: Great Battles Series (Moscow, Stalingrad, Kuban, Bodenplatte, Flying Circus and Tank Crew) don't do any public beta testing. They release patches every few months which add new features and new content for whatever project(s) they are working on. This is how they have been doing things since IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad started. Battle of Bodenplatte is in "Early Access" right now so the product on the whole is not complete, however, the individual components that are released are nearly always completed products. For example, for IL-2: Battle of Bodenplatte, we already have released content in the form of the Spitfire IXe, Bf109G-14, and FW190A-8 (also F-8/G-8). These are completed aircraft. There are more aircraft due in a couple of weeks (Bf109K-4 and P-47D-28) and once released they will likely be complete as well. Regardless of if you own Bodenplatte, all players on all products are all on the same version at once. So even with early access you're still always on the "stable" version of the software. It's a very reasonable arrangement if you ask me. 3
Avimimus Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 When early access for Battle of Stalingrad began in 2014 there were a few areas which could do with polishing... but today we are basically going on to the fourth edition of the game... the content is very very polished. They could do with an AI programmer to build a next-generation ground breaking AI of course... but it is still pretty impressive in its present state. The company is totally reliable and dedicated to their work. 1
Finkeren Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Remember: Bodenplatte early access is just content building on top of an already finished and highly stable game. There is absolutely no risk involved. I have heard stories about a few people having trouble getting the sim to run properly, but I have never heard of a single case of someone having any part of their pc corrupted in any way by installing BoX. 1

Lazduc, I'd assume you've played previously with both computers and computer games? If so, I would imagine you've run into issues like all of us have. I wouldn't load this series with the expectation of perfection. This is a great team and their product is above par, well above. But it is still work to get everything running well on many different systems sometimes. There are a lot of tips and tweaks posted here and a lot of knowledgeable people in this community. Take the time to explore the forum and you'll typically find an answer to the most common issues we all have run into at times. Edited November 11, 2018 by Rjel Cause I wanted to....
