Fenris_ Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 Sorry if this has been broached before on the forums but a search didn't throw up any results... Given the fantastic work being done by the devs on the modelling of aircraft and other visual assets for the game, as well as great texturing work and skins, I'm surprised at the colours being used for the RAF insignia. To my eyes they look way out, and I have to say they are kind of spoiling my nation's planes for me. The blue is too light and the red is too saturated. This seems to be a bit of a legacy issue as the same was true of RAF skins for the P-40 and if I recall the in-game RAF markings within the original Il2 series sported similarly inaccurate colours. At the onset of the war the RAF's roundel colours were changed from insignia red and blue to dull red and blue, as can be seen on period color photos of the time (see below). The in-game red and blue components are tonally nearly the same where as in actuality the red centre should be notably lighter tonally than the encompassing blue circle. The red should also be much less saturated. I'm not merely being critical for the sake of it, I've pre-purchased Bodenplatte and its extra aircraft and am invested in, and excited for its success. I greatly look forward to flying RAF aircraft in a historic setting and would dearly like to see this issue addressed. So as to be positive in my input I've also attached a roundel coloured as I'd suggest they should look in-game... should any devs be interested. ; ) 1
