smink1701 Posted November 9, 2018 Author Posted November 9, 2018 Because the American Air Force did such a good job of bombing German refineries they had to use low grade synthetic fuel which burned inefficiently and generated a lot of black smoke at full throttle. It’s historically correct.

Hm, no question about the low fuel quality for the Luftwaffe, but for the reasons you might consider to read WW2 oil campaign German sources sometimes tell the RAF-bombing - mainly because of the use of larger bombs - against refineries was more effective and longer lasting. And one can find statements the elaborated procedures of the RAF at night in 1944/45 on average resulted in a more precise bombing than the USAAF was able to deliver at day. I read a lot about that kind of questions, can't see an instance complete or wise enough to decide that kind of debates. Anyhow, the Oil Campaign (next to the Transport Plan) was a success of combined forces.

Maybe that so far they use the same textures? In principle, I do agree that LW planes should feature darker exhaust but as long as it‘s there it‘s already good for me.
