SOLIDKREATE Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 (edited) Hello, My specific help needed is with the crowns of the unit emblems. I remember someone here talking about that about 3 or 4 years ago. Are there really differences in the crown across the RAF, RCAF and RNZAF? Can you point these differences out to me? I really want to do our UK members across the pond a good service by not insulting them with incorrect emblems. Do the crown differ across the unit types as well i.e. bomber, fighter, attacker? *note I will not post any images here or in a PM. Edited November 12, 2018 by 429FS_SPEKTRE76 missing message body.
MiloMorai Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 You can fin some examples here, http://www.britishmilitarybadges.co.uk/products/8-viii-squadron-royal-air-force-lapel-badge-raf.html Many of the units listed have the squadron badge shown, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Royal_Air_Force_aircraft_squadrons
Fenris_ Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 (edited) Hey Spektre, its been a while! I've just had a quick look through comparisons of squadron badges for RCAF RAF and RAAF and they seem pretty generic to me. Most seem closely based on the St Edward's crown though the taller less curvaceous forms don't closely match any of the UK's royal crowns so may be generic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Edward's_Crown Here's the examples I came across - RCAF - https://www.google.com/search?q=RCAF+squadron+emblems&safe=active&client=firefox-b&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwic2ZTg5sjeAhXGPOwKHRYQBZMQsAR6BAgDEAE&biw=1920&bih=969 RAF - https://www.google.com/search?q=RAF+squadron+emblems&safe=active&client=firefox-b&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwil_cWo58jeAhUPCewKHeFPBlMQsAR6BAgAEAE&biw=1920&bih=969 RAAF - https://www.google.com/search?q=RAAF+squadron+emblems&safe=active&client=firefox-b&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjEipr05sjeAhVOzKQKHW3yDmYQ_AUIDigB&biw=1920&bih=969 RNZAF - https://www.google.com/search?safe=active&client=firefox-b&biw=1920&bih=969&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=TEbmW6OQB8GxkwWI8JuIAQ&q=RNZAF+squadron+emblems&oq=RNZAF+squadron+emblems&gs_l=img.12...93260.96661.0.98881.5.5.0.0.0.0.95.415.5.5.0....0...1c.1.64.img..0.1.94...0.0.QzQp3DrGNwE Hope this helps. SOLIDKREATE Posted November 11, 2018 Author Posted November 11, 2018 Thank you so much. This helps a lot.
1CGS LukeFF Posted November 11, 2018 1CGS Posted November 11, 2018 Be sure that you're using the crown of King George VI and not Queen Elizabeth II. It's a common mistake that I've seen more than once in other games.

Regarding New Zealand squadrons in the RAF (ie: 485 through 490 Sqns): without going into a long explanation, these were technically RAF squadrons, formed in the UK under RAF administration and manned by New Zealanders. Thus, the title was (eg) 486(NZ) Squadron NOT 486 Squadron RNZAF: see Article XV Squadrons. The RNZAF squadrons were those that were formed in New Zealand and flew operationally in the Pacific 1 1 1
