Evening all,

Having trouble with the X-55 throttle. Have just bought IL2 and decided to jump in and set up controls before enjoying some VR goodness and I'm most of the way done except for the throttle axis. Now I know this causes some upset in other games due to the throttle being recognised as an X/Y controller rather than the slider1/slider2 controller that it is. I'm able to get around this in game ssuch as DCS where I can select to use the axis as a slider but I cannot see how to fix this problem in IL2. I have played around calibrating the throttle through Mad Catz configurator & windows configurator but am having no joy. When I try to assign the axis in IL2's "Engine Controls" key mapping tab, it just doesn't recognise the throttle (X/Y) axis at all. Obviously I'm only using one slider when trying to assign the axis. The game knows my throttle is there as if I use any of the other axis' such as the rotary axis' on the throttle itself, if finds those just fine.

Does anyone use the X-55 and if so, how did you get yours working?

Thanks

This game have difficulties in "see" (detect)  axis movements in certain game controllers.

The know workaround for this is, in assignment window move the axis (X-55 lever) back and forth fast,

or leave the throttle full ahead and in assignment windows move back.

After if needed invert the axis clicking in the curved arrow ahead axis name.

As last resource could assign be manually edit the file "current.input".

I had no problem with my X55 throttle (other than when Windoze does an update and my joystick assignment numbers get scrambled)

Open the "current" "actions"  file in "BOS>data>input and look for this:

rpc_engine_1_throttle,                            joy5_axis_x,

                          1| // Engine 1 throttle control

and:

rpc_engine_2_throttle,                            joy5_axis_y,

                             1| // Engine 2 throttle control

(Your throttle may have a different "joy" number... mine is either "joy4" or "joy5" depending on what Windoze assigns it at the moment.)

Note also that your "joy" assignments may change if you unplug and re-plug any of your peripherals.

@DrGonzo_ not sure if you have done this but you need to move the throttle lever all the way down then all the way up when assigning it. I am using the X-55. The right throttle shows up as joy1_axis_y in my game.

Thanks for the replies all. I did try manually editing the current.actions input file myself, unfortuantely this didn't work. I raised a ticket with 1C's support and they gave me the following advice:

Quote

Try the following:

- delete file " [Game folder]\data\input\devices.txt"
- delete the folder "[Game folder]\data\input"

- delete the contents of the folder " [Game folder]\updates"

- update the game

If you use a third-party software for joystick and pedals - temporarily turn it off

do not forget to remove the folder with the game "Read only" attribute

Thankfully, this solves my problem! If anyone else is having difficulties, I suggest following the advice above.

Thanks again, see you in the skies!
