fiddlinjim Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 I have found that both the compass and gyro do not function in my Spitfire MK-IX. I have made 180's at different attitudes and altitudes and then flew straight and level for an extended period to allow for readings to settle down but the compass and gyro never moved from their initial setting. I have reported this as a bug but would like to know if the same problem has been encountered by other pilots.
Talon_ Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 I noticed a similar issue in my A-20 recently after some heavy maneuvering, the gyro acts as if it has been permanently damaged. It's not every time and it's hard to replicate for me.
Psyrion Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Afaik thats not a bug but just how these instruments react to maneuvering.
Willy__ Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Arent you supposed to cage it before heavy maneuvering and uncage it on level flight ? Im unnaware if the game models some damage to it, but iirc ingame the pilot would automatically cage it when you start maneuvering.

Yes, that's how it works like ingame. 1 hour ago, fiddlinjim said: then flew straight and level for an extended period to allow for readings to settle down but the compass and gyro never moved from their initial setting. But that's not how it's supposed to work, i will check that ingame.
fiddlinjim Posted November 9, 2018 Author Posted November 9, 2018 Matt checked out the problem and smooth/level flight is required for approx 30 seconds after being caged due to violent maneuvers.
