HappyHaddock Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) Hi, I'm hoping some kind soul will help me out as I seem to be having somewhat of a "senior moment" where I am making a right mess of what should be a simple task. In Rise of Flight I used JSGME as a mod enabler for other people's mods and also wrote and shared my own mods. Now Flying circus has started to introduce WWI aircraft I've finally started taking an interest in this updated version of the sim and so thought I'd start by downloading a couple of the mods I'd seen listed on this forum. I've downloaded and installed JGSME, installed the mods I wanted into the "MODS" folder JSGME created, opened up JSGME to slide over the first mod I wanted to activate, turned on the in game "Mods ON" mode, opened up the sim and... there's no sign the mod has been implemented. I've checked all sorts of things from re-booting, have gone back through the whole process starting from scratch again, and then tried all this again with a different mod and still nothing. I'm puzzled and am left with a few possibilities as to why Flytitus flower mod doesn't work for me. 1)The file naming hierarchy for the mod may not be correct on my PC so may have a mis-spelling or mistake with upper/lower case naming of one/more of the sub folders, or have an entire folder in the hierarchy missing 2)The mod isn't applicable/compatible to the maps I'm using (Lapino summer and/or Stalingrad summer) 3)I note that a few years ago the MODS folder was created directly within the ROF directory, but that in IL2 (Flying Circus) JSGME created the MODS folder as a subdirectory within itself, but if I try moving the MODS folder up one level then JSGME doesn't actually find any mods at all, so I'm assuming it has created the MODS folder where it needs it. (see attached picture for comparison of file hierarchy) Does anybody have any thoughts as to what I may be doing wrong. Cheers Happyhaddock Edited November 4, 2018 by HappyHaddock
fubar_2_niner Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 Hi mate, I'm wondering why JSGME has its own dir (folder ?) This I think is where your problem lies. To fix it move both your mods folder and the JSGME executable to another place i.e your desktop, now delete the JSGME dir from the game. Now move back the JSGME.exe only to your IL2 game dir. Now click on the .exe, this will create a new mods folder as in ROF. Now simply copy back your original mods folder and allow it to overwrite the one you created. This should fix your problem. Your file structure shpould then appear thus:
HappyHaddock Posted November 4, 2018 Author Posted November 4, 2018 Cheers I'll give that a try and let you know HH
HappyHaddock Posted November 4, 2018 Author Posted November 4, 2018 Fubar, Thanks for the advice it wasn't quite as simple as you suggested as for whatever reason my PC wouldn't let me move files as it had somehow got a duplicate version of JSGME locked open in the background and was accessing that rather than the amendments I was trying to make, but after scrubbing all mention of it anywhere and going back to square one I've installed things along the same lines as I had for ROF and as you recommended and all now seems to be working.... Now to start digging through my old mods to see what is directly transportable over to the new game engine and to start work on more environmental mods. Cheers HH
