hello

How do you add an image to a subtitle ? for example i get back to base and i get the message landed !! but i had failed in my mission objectives  so i want sarge to bark at me in the debrief . If successful  another set off similar MCU's declare success and  image appears with officer awarding medals .

You cannot add an image to a subtitle. See "Show a Picture", on pg. 154 of the editor manual.

Media translator only accepts .jpg and .dds files. Click the Set button once you choose a file.

The "Browse, Set" description on pg. 281 of the manual says "Put the media file where you put the mission files or in a subfolder at that location". If your .jpg files are not under the /Missions or /Multiplayer folder (or any subfolder of those locations), they will not show up in "Browse, Set" box.

I had serious issues with displaying images and just gave up entirely. They would be stretched, zoomed, all sorts of messed up... I wouldn't rely on it dog1.

NETSCAPE

i just tried it and had a shock cause i had it dialed for 10 secs on landing and it blotted my vision while landing with the image all this time , it takes up the whole screen so i need to figure how to reduce the image while not blocking my vision .

Sorry, pg. 269 in your manual. I was reading from a draft manual with all the updates so far. No Thad, you can't have it.

Roger that ,can we adjust the size of the image to appear for the set time without blocking our in game vision ?  IE a portion of the monitor . On my first attempt the whole screen is white with the image in much reduced size appearing in the middle . I can adjust the image again to fill the whole screen if there is no solution , i think go back to 1024 pix . my objective is to add an image for each important event  very much like CFS2 20 years ago .

You need to resize the image in a raster graphics program such as GIMP (free). For example, if you have your game resolution set to 1920 x 1080 pixels, you need to reduce your image to much smaller than that to avoid blocking your view.

Here's a test mission:

JimTM - Test Pictures.zip

Picture fades in, stays 30s, then fades out. The picture is in the mission folder.

why use GIMP ? i stopped using it 2 years ago and switched to PS6 for skining . Is'nt Irfan view enough for resizing ? how do i eliminate the white background which fills the screen i mentioned earlier ?

Use whatever program you like.

I don't know why your background is white.

i looked various times at page 269 and the links on the subject but nowhere in my manual it describes what you say .

Your correct, dog. its not in my manual either , must be an update JimTM added to the current update version he is working on

mine shows as just this

you should also look at page 154

image.png.278c8b75c020c8471fdbf5f1f4567d7f.png

I created a Library subfolder folder in my \missions folder to put all my component groups I use making missions

For any media in missions (audio/pictures/movies) maybe make a "media " subfolder in that particular missions folder

(this is what programmers do, use a folder structure)

hi Stix , i have read all the links many times but none specify what JIM stated . JIM's mission does not show an image . Pls check it if you have time . His i believe will cover the whole screen .

Since then and doing some testing i have my multiple images showing in mission per event in reduced size , i cannot stretch them  since thats how they are but i still have the entire screen covered in white for the set time period as background , there must be a way to remove that , for example it says background 255 which is white , is'nt there a transparent option ?

this is the reason

image.thumb.png.a57b813cc5593ccc39a69f4548adc172.png

Change the path in media advance properties to match location of the image (its set based on jims directory structure for the game)
(In my case I set it as "missions\jimtm - test pictures\skin5.jpg")

(ie location of the mission folder)

worked perfectly once location set correctly, as per manual don't load images during mission critical things like landing.....

Works fine for me after about 10s of mission start i get the smaller image in center on hud for 30seconds

I even relocated the image to several different sub folders of the mission folder (just in case) and resaved the mission in editor each time i changed it

here is mine working fine by setting RGB to zero , i have another one which was success and it did appear as above . now i can set up alternative MCU's depending on wether each event in the mission was successful or otherwise and have them appear as such with mission objectives . In this mission they must protect a train from Jerry and it can go either way . The MCU's and subs do declare correctly the outcome during the mission so now just attach an image for fun . Reminds me so much off CFS2 days long time ago .

...

Yes, I was quoting from the updated version. Sorry for the confusion.

I ran some image tests and it looks like the current doc on "Background Color RGB" and "Opacity" (taken from the RoF editor manual) is not accurate (at least as far as image goes).

Here's the revised doc for image:

Background Color RGB

The RGB color of the screen background to use if you choose "Image" in the
"Media Type" drop-down list. In the three boxes, type numbers between 0 and
255 to specify the red (R), green (G), and blue (B) components of the color. For
    example 255, 0, 0 is red, 0, 255, 0 is green, 0,0,0 is black, and 255, 255, 255 is white.

Note: 0,0,0 (Black) gives you a transparent background. All other values give you a
    100% opaque background.

Opacity

    Not implemented.
