Can no longer start a career

Today, for some reason, I haven't been able to start a career. I go through the setup and when I hit 'finish' all I get is a message that says, "Error: Careers list is unavailable." 

I reinstalled the game after a few frustrating tries, but no luck. The only thing that has changed since career mode last worked was my purchase of the Spitfire Mk V on steam...but I can't see how that would cause this issue.

I had the same symptom when my cp.db file got corrupted.

 

You will find it in the "Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Career" folder.

I cut and copied the file to the folder above "career" so that I may find it just in case.

By removing this cp.db file it allows the init.sql to reinitialise and create a new cp.db file.

A restart of the game is very likely required for this file to be recreated from scratch.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

You will lose all your previously saved career mode data but will now be able to regain access to doing new careers.

 

I had found some sites that explain fiddleling with the data but mine had a key which is not known to me .
