Finkeren Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Happy Samhain folks (Yep, the Irish invented it and don’t you forget it) Even though this festival of ghouls and goblins is a relatively new import to my country (we usually dress up for carnival and smash a barrel to bits with a live cat inside) I must say Halloween is a favorite of mine, as I would never miss an opportunity to watch horror movies and scare the bejeezus out of small children. This is the outfit I’m using this year to greet any trick-or-treater that shows up on our doorstep: (I apologize for the apparent boner - I swear that’s just the light playing tricks) What are you guys getting dressed up as? 1 2

Historically no, they absolutely did, but obviously the cat murder slowly went out of fashion early in the 20th century. Today the barrel is filled with candy instead, so it’s just a very sturdy piñata with a cat painted on the outside, that takes forever to knock down and usually leaves a kid or two with sprained wrists.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Nope, cat in a barrel is a real thing, though, real cats are out of fashion in the modern world.

Guest deleted@83466 Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 (edited) I'm having a stress-free Halloween, content in the knowledge that my spoiled kitties are safe from barbaric Danish fanatics with rockets in their pockets. Edited November 1, 2018 by SeaSerpent
Cybermat47 Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Kinda wish we did Halloween here, looks fun. Then again, some of the costumes I’ve seen make me thankful that it’s not popular here. ?
Guest deleted@83466 Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Well, you know what they say Cybermatt: Beggars can't be choosers.

=FEW=Hauggy Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 (edited) Ahaha the light playing tricks xD That looks like a genuine boner. It's nice to have a pagan day in the year in rememberance of something that's part of life (death) but I'm starting to feel too old to dress up like it's carnival and go ask for sweets. Anyway in France its more about remembering the dead and sometimes carving a face in a turnip or something like that. Edited November 1, 2018 by =FEW=Hauggy
sallee Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 It's definitely a semillon at least. Talk about trick or treat...
