Game crashing with the final "start" button.

This started recently and is getting worse.

 

I go through all the steps to start a mission in QMB or a career and get to the final stage pressing the start button and the spinning wheel locks up. This entails Ctr/Alt?Delete and getting the "Not Responding" message.

 

I find most times if I restart the game and open a QMB and end it straight away, then open a Career mission it will start. I now cannot get a career mission started before going through this evolution.

 

Have latest Nvidia drivers 

 

Deleted the Updates folder, dropped from Ultra to High, unchecked 4K but to no avail.
