No.23_Triggers Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 (edited) Hey all, some of you may have noticed that we have a new Entente pilot model for FC1: I think it's a big improvement on the old pilot (old being a pretty choice word here ), but although I appreciate the hard work of the devs I think we're not quite there yet... Given the ages of most WWI pilots, I think the new pilot model still looks a bit too 'man-ish' and not 'boy-ish' enough...Just look at pictures of Mannock, Ball, Guynemer, Caldwell, etc. etc. I'd prefer to see a pilot that looks closer in age to those guys, in his early 20s rather than our new fellow who, to me, looks like he's in his 30s or 40s...but perhaps I'm the only one seeing the new model that way, or perhaps I'm just being a little too pedantic. Thoughts? Edited October 30, 2018 by Larner
Feathered_IV Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Needs more of a hangdog expression and a gangsta pose. Maybe a bionic arm or a picture of him walking casually away from a big explosion would be good too. 1

Guest deleted@83466 Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 (edited) The pilot looks excellent to me. He doesn't look like he's the youngest guy to ever fly an airplane, but you look at photos of some of those guys, like Boelke and Voss, and they sometimes look like they could have been 20 years older than they were. Voss, in particular, looked like a weatherbeaten Lt. Commander Data, and he was only, what 20? Imo, he looks a lot more bad-ass than the previous model with the gigantic flavor-saver. Yeah, Voss is a funny one to see...looks incredibly young at the start and incredibly old towards the end...war is hell, eh?
J2_Trupobaw Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 this moustache must be horrible thing to have once castor oil settles in... I think his age should appeal to our largely emeritus playerbase :D.
Trooper117 Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 (edited) I think the first pilot was better... Edited October 31, 2018 by Trooper117 1

Muff_Huggar Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 What's an entente pilot? Googling it brings up posts that use the term, but no explanation of what it is.

Archie Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Personally I think the moustache looked better, gave the pilot a bit of character, and not at all uncommon at the time. Reminded me of 'Uncle' from Aces High too!
No.23_Triggers Posted October 31, 2018 Author Posted October 31, 2018 (edited) A thought's just occurred to me... At the moment we have just an 'Entente' pilot...what do we think of the idea of having a French, R.F.C, Russian and POSSIBLY (I say possibly because it's a little tricky aircraft-wise) an American pilot? Or, in other words, Same basic pilot model, but different historical uniforms for each nation. Good idea, or not really worth the effort to model? (Or are the Devs already doing this and I've just failed to notice)? Edited October 31, 2018 by Larner 1
6./ZG26_Custard Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 If you look very closely the American WWII pilot is the WWI pilot in disguise. 4 hours ago, Trooper117 said: think the first pilot was better I have to agree. Sorry for crossing over into WWII but I think the old US WWII pilot was better than the one we've currently going to get.

Both sides of the War called themselves Allies, especially on theaters when their opposition had single nationality (on the west it was "Allies vs Germans", on the east "Allies vs Russians".

Guest deleted@83466 Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 (edited) I personally would have no desire to fly around with my pilot alter-ego sporting a 1970s megastache, and I like the new guy better, but since they've already spent the time developing the previous model, I think at some point they should give the option to choose between the two. However, for the sake of balance, I would want the Richthhofen Fur Flying Suit Pimp look to fight against the 'stache guy. Seriously guys, all the pilot models they've done so far are top notch, and I think we need to remember that this is a flight simulator, and let's not get too picky about these kinds of things. Edited November 1, 2018 by SeaSerpent added picture of Richthofen
US103_Baer Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Was looking thru a gallery of French aces yesterday. With exception of a couple of famous baby faces, the rest were dead ringers for our chap. Surprised me a lot tbh. 2

Very true, the devs are doing a stellar job...I'm just passing the time being harmlessly picky about the pilots while we eagerly await some more crates to play around with
SharpeXB Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 It wouldn’t be easy I’m sure but it would be great to have a variety of different looking pilots. The open cockpits make them a very apparent feature. And they’re modeled so well, they have personality and aren’t generic looking. It almost begs for them to each be different. 1
PhalicPhalicTheImpaler Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 I had a pilot snipe and was curious of what if any animation of the pilot taking a bullet so I played it back (recording) and zoomed in on the pilot and indeed there was an animation. he lurched forward and straightened up a bit them slumped over the controls.
