Nil Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 The Bf 109f throttle isn't visually moving, just the little 'thingie' under it (but it works)(first install for me, tried repair)
Wolfstriked Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 So i take it P-Factor is modeled correctly in this game if you increase engine RPM and not compensate with rudder, while starting your takeoff? Yes its modeled. QUESTION=The red and green lights(Lagg) are to show the pilot if landing gear is up or down but what is the 3rd green light for?And can someone fill me in on the location of the flap indicator for the Lagg?

dburne Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2220-labeled-lagg-3-cockpit/ I am pretty sure Requiem needs a pinned thread here before too long, love that guy's work!
Wolfstriked Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2220-labeled-lagg-3-cockpit/ Thanks a bunch LukeFF!
Wolfstriked Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) Does anyone know what the 3rd green light is in the Lagg cockpit? Also, just found something that is probably well known but for noobs like me its a nice touch! When in the lagg and you look ouside at wing there is these mechanical indicators that move in and out of a hole to indicate if your gear is up or down. 1CGS LukeFF Posted February 9, 2014 1CGS Posted February 9, 2014 Which third green light are you talking about? I'm not seeing it.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Dev's Im really pretty blown away by what you have delivered this week! The pieces are coming together rather nicely, they together start painting the picture that you have been working so hard to illustrate to all the fans of this series. The AA is great and the 88's, man they are deadly! As for bugs, as other have noted, there is a large frame hit around the Stalingrad smoke. Its taking me from high 50's into the teens. And the disappearing smoke is still an issue. But this was by far for me, the best update to come out yet. I applaud your efforts and wish continued success in the project. I do hope you consider allowing F11 mode as there are some camera shots I just cant get in the current view regime. Again great work, Keep it up! The light at the end of the tunnel must be visible for you now, very exciting!
Wolfstriked Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Which third green light are you talking about? I'm not seeing it. There is 5 lights in the landing gear area and I am talking about the one right in middle between the red top lights and bottom green lights. It never lights up so am just wondering what its function was.

It may have something to do with the tailwheel. None of the cockpit diagrams I have seen identify what it is, so that's just a guess.
Wolfstriked Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Since the tail wheel doesn't retract then possibly its a lock tail wheel light?
LLv34_Flanker Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 S! I do not have information on the LaGG-3 series 29 tail wheel system, but at least in Series 35 it was semi rigid without locking. It was kept centered with springs and a notch in the tail wheel support assembly.
Wolfstriked Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Just throwing ideas out here.Maybe its the parking brake light? And while your here, does the lock tail wheel function work in the 109?I see the animation on the left side panel but feel no difference in game.
Fifi Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 And while your here, does the lock tail wheel function work in the 109?I see the animation on the left side panel but feel no difference in game. Yes it works, and there is a big difference in game between locked/unlocked. Unlocked you can turn like a spinning top...
Wolfstriked Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I got it working and its beautiful and makes takeoffs, landings and taxiing much nicer.Reason was I had a conflict by using T as my lock tail wheel which also controls the take control of turret function.
Fifi Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Glad you solved it. It's really usefull for ground handling. A shame Soviet planes didn't get this feature ...at least the Lagg3.
Wolfstriked Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Yaa,I feel its soviet ideology at its best.Keep the pilots unhappy and bitchy to keep them in fighting form.
Wolfstriked Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 First impressions update. Well,I am completely hooked!! I haved not stopped playing this sim today as a testament to how good I think it is.Its funny because this past week I have been torn apart by a choice as to whether or not I should buy some really kool racing sim pedals or get into a flight sim and splurge on one of the excellent HOTAS.I mean really torn apart as I installed all my sims and just playing each to see which one causes that sim feeling in me.Installed ROF and while the feeling of flight is lovely, its just not my thing.Assetto Corsa is brilliant and DCS A10c is amazing so those two sims were my deciding point as to where I should spend my tax return money. The key word is "were". BoS has blown me away and as I said I spent ALL day on it.Feeling of speed and flight is amazing. When I first started it up I was kinda worried I wasted my money to be honest. Now I know that this sim is just BADASS!! Once I settled on some nice curves it all came together for me.Simple curves of .1 for pitch/roll and .5 for yaw.I also short calibrate my rudder pedals as I feel they have too much travel for sitting at a desk. Now I know what the joke of F5 means!! 1
kongxinga Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) There has been somewhat of a performance hit in this update, especially over the smoky areas of Stalingrad - perhaps related to the new look of the smoke. How much ram do you have? You might post your system specs to give an idea of what you are working with. Typically the best thing for these flight sims is pure cpu horsepower, but certainly not enough ram could cause some bottlenecking as well. I would say if you have 6GB or more right now, you are probably fine in the ram department. Posting my specs to get suggestions on what parts I should be upgrading first. Processor Intel® Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB Total Physical Memory 16.0 GB Available Physical Memory 12.9 GB Total Virtual Memory 32.0 GB Available Virtual Memory 28.4 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 ASUS Xonar DG Audio Device Might not be the ram if 4 is enough. Is the bottleneck the graphics card? Or the processor? @ above, Can you use flight pedals for car sims? Edited February 10, 2014 by kongxinga
dburne Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Your in good shape on your system ram, 16gb is plenty and really more than you would need. My first thought is video card - how much vram does your gtx 560 have? You really would benefit with at least 2gb of vram. Have you ever thought about or looked into overclocking your cpu?
kongxinga Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Thanks dburnette. Checking my card it seems it has only 1 gig of Vram. This is probably the issue. Don't get me wrong, Stalingrad is still completely flyable and smooth, just the fps number that is given to me from dxstory has dropped, but I did not notice a difference, apart from dxstory screen recording crashing and taking the game along with it. I hope the issue is the cosmetics like smoke, but if it is due to the MUCH MUCH improved and fantastic spotting, please do not roll it back. Warthunder once improved LOD for Full real battles, but arcaders started complaining that they now had 59 fps instead of 60, and it was taken away, leaving simmers to hunt the black dot again. I will pony up and upgrade anything, but please no more hunting dots. As for overclocking, I've done it before, but it started crashing. My problem, which I suspect is due to either a older stick of ram that can't handle it, or running out of power. I do have a new power supply on the way to make room for some incremental upgrades. I may have to start shopping for a new video card, especially with DCS ww2 coming along as well. This would be a good investment.
dburne Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Yep, something like a 680 or even 770 would be much better. 1gb is not enough vram. Good luck!
LLv44_Mprhead Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 If you are going to buy new GPU, this might come in handy http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html
ST_ami7b5 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 ... Have you ever thought about or looked into overclocking your cpu? I also have i2600k @ 3,40 GHz. 8GB RAM, good power supply and Cooler Master. Any advice how to overclock? Never tried it...
silent_one Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Motion blur. the worst addition ever. Just makes me feel nauseous. So totally unrealistic I just cant believe it. Just look around your room. Did you see how increadibly blurry it was when you looked around. Terrible wasnt it. No it wasnt . thats not how vision works. I cant believe someone wasted time on this effect.
Tektolnes Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 It's nice for outside view screenshots, movie makers and the like. I don't like it much for inflight viewing when in the cockpit so have it off as default. 1

Just look around your room. Did you see how increadibly blurry it was when you looked around. Terrible wasnt it. No it wasnt . thats not how vision works. I cant believe someone wasted time on this effect. Motion blur is used a lot because its the most effective way to remove aliasing and some artifacts that happen when rendering a fast moving scene without need to use deferred rendering. That summed to the fact that people for some weird reason associate it with speed makes it a prime candidate for the illusion Yep, something like a 680 or even 770 would be much better. 1gb is not enough vram. Good luck! The top usage (on most systems) of VRAM is screen resolution and FSAA. Reduce FSAA and you should reduec the issues of a limited Vram ammount.
Georgio Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Just out of curiousity what sort of fps are you getting in flight? I'm mid forties over stalingrad and the motion blur is ok, maybe if you have lower fps the blur is more 'drunken' just an idea. Motion blur. the worst addition ever. Just makes me feel nauseous. Yes, in heavily taxed areas, like low in Stalingrad in the smokey area, as fps go down motion blur goes up. Plus it is heavier in say Ultra preset versus Balanced... Running in Ultra, the effect over Stalingrad made me very nauseous.
