A real Yak 3

Recommended Posts

Posted

I finally got the game again, from this site, after a disturbing experience with the extremely bad Steam-version (don´t buy it there!).
Anyhow, any Yak-pilots in here? I wanted to share this awesome Yak 3 that I took some photos of in Germany this summer. I have more, but unfortunately there is a 5 mb limit to the posts.

Happy to be back, see yall up there!

Glad to have you back.

The “Yak-3UPW” unfortunately is a modern reproduction with a P&W R-2000. The real Yak-3U prototype had an Ash-82FN.

Thanks!

Yes, the Steam-experience was totally different from the one I bought here. Dunno why, doesn´t matter.

Indeed, this Yak is F-AZZK, currently flying afaik.

Any more pics? I was unaware of a radial Yak fighter. Looks interesting.

A bit reduced quality, but here from rear angle

I saw one of these next to an actual Yak-3 at the Melun-Villaroche meeting not so long ago.

EDIT: The one I saw was a Yak-11 made to look more like a Yak-3, actually. I'll try to upload some pictures of the Yak-3.

There was a plethora of other authentic WW2 birds there as well. (There were 3 Hurricanes, by the way.)

The steam version is 100% identical to the version you get here, so your experience is due to other reasons than steam.

The rebuild Yak-11s look the part but are much too big compared to the real things.

Still, it’s just about the best we’ve got.
