Olt_Kloetenburg Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 (edited) It now happens quite often that I finish the mission after my wingmen drilled themselves into the ground. I wonder what motivation drove them, it mostly went well before... However, now to my point: I tried to understand the .json files and managed to find a way to reanimate those pilots and reissue the planes after debriefing. I succeeded and am now able to change the files to have them back. What bothers me is that this process is rather exhausting and takes a lot of time. Further more reading the journal those pilots are still listed as KIA or imprisoned, although they show up in the roster again. As PWCG reads the mission log generated by Il2 it seems to distinguish between self-inflicted crashes "A _____ of ______ crashed. The pilot ______ was not injured/killed/etc. and crashes resulting from damage inflicted by other units A ____ of _____ was shot down by _____. The pilot ....... I see this logic in the PWCG debrief. Would it be possible to add an option into this debrief to deny those unnecessary AI crashes? A few players could actually accuse me of trying to cheat, and maybe I could by misusing this tool. But please, please, think of all the missions you'd do over again because your favorite wingmen just went nuts. We could save quite some time here. Thanks in advance! dburne Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 (edited) Say what, someone wanting to cheat death here? Shame! You can always just fly the mission again and hope for better ai result... assuming you have not submitted a combat report on it yet. Edited October 26, 2018 by dburne
PatrickAWlson Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 Tell me which squadron you a re flying for and when. It basically amounts to finding the guy and changing pilotActiveStatus to 0 (he will have a negative number for pilot active status). So, how to find the guy. You have to go to the PWCGCampaign/campaigns/<my pilot name>/personnel directory. Then you have to find the file for your squadron. Then you have to find the guy in the JSON file. The squadron code is CCCxxSSS where CCC is country code (101 for Russian, 201 for German) and SSS is squadron number. The two xx numbers are associated with squadron role. Example: 1 Gruppe of JG51 would be 20111051 - 201 for Germany, 1 for fighter, 1 for I gruppe, 051 for JG51. JSON is program readable data, so any mistake in editing the file will screw up the campaign. Make a backup before hand editing.
Olt_Kloetenburg Posted October 28, 2018 Author Posted October 28, 2018 (edited) Dear Pat, it's I. JG52 since 10/01/41, right now I am near stalingrad somewhere around April 42. Yes, I got this. But my pilots dissapeared after the next mission, even if they weren't assigned. I also need to remove "inactiveDate" at the end of that pilot's part in the json file, otherwise he'll be gone after the next time PWCG reads it. My wingmen now are back there alive and well.
